How well are 2013-2017 Accord V6 Transmissions holding up?

Those who have the V6 Accord, how well are you transmissions holding up? Do they still require frequent fluid changes and pressure sensor replacements? Thinking about trading in my 4 cylinder in for the V6 for more power, just curious on the transmissions.

Coming up on 4 years and not a lot of miles 32k on my 14. Trans has no issues rough downshifts are still there to a lesser extent. Honda has had some TSB's that appear to be fluid related so I recommend changing the fluid a lot like every other year or 20k, something like that. Very easy to do yourself, if you can change your own oil, this is even easier.

Problems as follows, all minor.

Battery failed at 2.5 years

Get a pop from front left suspension that sometimes goes away for months at a time

VCM is starting to make a rumbling noise on rare occasions that lasts a second or two. This is a new development and may be mount related. Have had zero oil consumption issues so far. So, I call total BS on those that slam the earth dreams V6 for potential VCM issues. Problem no longer exists on this version of the V6.

Car has had no maintenance other than tire rotations, brake fluid change, oil changes and 2 ATF changes.

Can't reiterate enough how great a highway cruiser this car is. If you don't pay attention 80 mph is nothing and car feels relaxed at those speeds. The V6 is a must for hills it just pulls and pulls. It's not a sports car but sporty enough that you wouldn't think about needing a sports car and it's cheap to insure, 17 inch tires are inexpensive. It's a good car to own, that does so much so well. Car still feels smooth and fast will keep it and pass down to kids but no longer interested in sedans, would like this refinement in an SUV but not have to pay the RDX price.

I have a 2013 V-6 coupe with less than 30k on it and I also have only done the maintenance on mine. I haven't had any issues with the car and have no plans of getting rid of it anytime soon. In short a great car to drive with no issues for me.

I've got 53K miles on my 2013 V6 coupe, transmission has been fine for the most part. Did a ATF change at 37K miles, next one will be at 60K miles.

Downshifts can be jerky when cold but the upshifts are smooth.

No issues on my 2013 with 50,000 miles. Fluid change around 30,000.

2016 EX-L V6 Automatic is the wife's city commuter/school bus. All good; owned since new.

Her car acts a little funny when temps dip below 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Wife noticed that when the car isn't fully warmed up it will occasionally lunge/lurch forward from a stop during soft acceleration. When the engine warms up, it never happens. I have not replicated it myself, but I am not too concerned at this point.

Otherwise, both cars are problem free and are serving us well.

Personally, I'm going to do 30k auto trans fluid changes.

Good luck!

Thanks for all of the good information! I'm glad Honda worked out the VCM with their oil consumption because that alone made me a little skeptical. It seems like they nailed the V6 and transmission in their 9th gen cars. The problem is finding an Accord that's been properly taken care of and not abused might be a little challenge.

The wife has 57k on her 2014 V6 Sedan, just did a ATF fluid change on it myself. Still runs great with no issues. I think if you stay up to date on maintenance, it should hold up well. Just don't go cheap on parts and fluids. I bought her the Honda ATF but we use all factory parts for her sedan and my coupe which is a small price to pay considering the cost of a new transmission and other parts.

85k on my '13 Touring. Changed the fluid at 60k and didn't notice a difference. Still works perfect.

Only have 12,000 miles on 2015 Touring, but other than cold weather jerkiness no issues. Once it warms up it's as fine as an AT gets.
