I went the V6 route. But I'm in the US. I'm coming from an I4 5MT. I didn't want the CVT. If the US had the Touring with an I4 and 6 speed which I think Canada has, I would have seriously considered it. Going from an I4 MT to a CVT would have been a step down for me.

Although I didn't notice so much difference during my test drives, after a few weeks of ownership, I did begin to appreciate the smoothness of the V6 engine even more than the extra power. It gives more of a luxury car feel. The V6 does quite well with MPG on the highway, but the I4 will do significantly better MPG wise everywhere else. There is a reason that the overwhelming majority of Accords sold have the I4 and that is because most will find it more than adequate.

I would have paid $2000 just for the white when I was looking for one. WOP is a sharp color especially on the Sport and Touring.

Personally I'd go with the V6 but the MPG are going to be drastically different than the 4 cylinder like others have said. It's personal preference.

I do quite a bit of city driving but still went with the V6.

I'm not sure mpg will be good for the 4 cylinder either. I don't know your city but what non hybrid vehicle does well in stop and go traffic?

Well considering.. it will be better than the V6.

I'd guess roughly a 5 MPG difference possibly?

Since I own 2 V6's I probably don't need to comment whether I think the additional purchase price is worth it. But it seems to me that a lot of the conversation centers now on "practicality" or MPG vs V6 power.

I'd suggest that the OP do something I've done when I've faced the same question buying cars. It's always helped me to decide. Do a rough calculation of what the difference in MPG will cost per year. Even with my limited math skills it only takes a couple of minutes. In the past I've found the estimated annual MPG cost difference was $75 - $110 per year. To me it was worth paying that difference. Attitudes and differences in MPG can vary of course.

The better trans plus the J35 motor alone are worth the 2k premium. Itís a no brainer! There are people on here that have picked up Sports for nearly the same price you can pick up a V6 for nowadays...

You're right... It could be good, great, or terrible. It's really tough to project. I use fuelly to check what others are achieving. Idling and acceleration kill mpg big time. I'm averaging 27mpg right now in my V6. I previously had a Jetta Hybrid and a 4 cylinder diesel. I've never done well in the city with my routines. But the hybrid shutting off the motor helped substantially in city.

Edit: For reference, shopping in VA+surrounding states, an EX-L was $26K before tax, titles, and fees while I was shopping. I settled on a coupe EX-L w/Navi and sensing for $29K base price. I'm military and the salesman was prior military so I didn't mind missing out on rock bottom pricing. I still have the emailed quote if you want them op

In post #19, the OP said it was $3,400 more, not $2,000 more. The OP also said he does 100% city driving.

This might require critical thinking....

Off topic but my god is black a PITA. Accord #1 was white and I always thought I was wasting my time washing it every week when I couldn't see anything on it. Accord #2 is black (as you can see by my avatar) and within 1 day of being left outside it'll be coated with sand. Yay for living in the desert with a black car...

Not to mention now that I can *see* the dust I can also see every time a bird has landed on the car or a dealership tech touched the paintwork.

I have a coworker who buys brown cars just for that reason...you can't see dirt if the car looks like dirt

In sentence #2 of the initial post, he said he does not drive on the highway. I too usually trail off after the first sentence- so tough, so much pain. But this time I stuck it out!

Thanx guys for the comments. I almost feel like a criminal for not going for the V6 but I frankly enjoyed the CVT. I am not actually concerned by MPG at all, just the driving pleasure and color. I had a '15 Sonata b4 this and had enough power for me, I felt the CVT was way better and smoother.
