New Recall: BSM (Battery Status Monitor) sensor

Just at the dealership...they told me there was a recall (not TSB) issued for my 2014 Sport.
Parts are not available yet and notification letters are on the way.

For the BSM Sensor...Battery related.

I suspect it is the Battery status monitor, the black box on the negative terminal of the battery.

#1...NHTSA lists safety related recalls. Says it right on their page.

#2...not "blind spot monitoring" (don't we have enough guessing here?)

#3...yes, Battery Status Monitor. Good clarification greg1c

#4...I have it on my Sport, don't know why some would be different.

I again looked on NHTSA webpage, nothing listed for the Honda Accord Battery Status Monitor. The only NHTSA recall listed is for March 2, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V121000
Connecting Rod Bolts may be Improperly Torqued

I then checked the Honda Owners website, again, no recall listed for 2014 Honda Accord. Last updated July 3, 2017.

Please provide a link to your information, I am confused, as I can't find the information.

My "link" is the dealership service writer, who was just notified at the end of last week.
Honda telling their dealerships before widely releasing the information to the general public...too far-fetched?.

And the NHTSA is explicit about the types of recalls you won't find in their database. I wouldn't count on that as a complete list under normal circumstances.

Feel free to disregard my well-intentioned message if you don't like the source.

I tried to purchase a 2014 couple on Saturday (July 1st) at a local dealer and they wouldn't sell it to me due a stop sale on 2013 - 2016 Accords that they had received the day prior for this issue. I can't post a picture of the printout since I just registered but here is what it says:

A MESSAGE FROM HONDA

Background:
Today, June 30, 2017, American Honda is announcing a STOP SALE and Safety Recall for certain 2013-16 Accord vehicles to address potential corrosion in the battery management sensor, possibly leading to smoke and/or fire in the engine bay. The case on the original battery sensor installed in certain vehicles may have been improperly manufactured with gaps that allow moisture intrusion. If moisture containing conductive substances (such as road salt) enters the battery sensor, it could cause an electrical short and consequently, a fire. Due to the constant power source at the sensor, resistance, heat, smoke, and/or fire can occur in any ignition switch position.

Affected Vehicles:
2013-16 Accord (all except Hybrid) (HAM and Sss produced)
Affected dates: Start of production 12/22/2016
Worldwide: 1.2M
KA: 1,148,466

The Repair:
This campaign will be launched in three phases due to material and part availability. The first phase begins with a stop sale tomorrow, details to follow.
Service Bulletin:
Since parts or materials are not currently available for order, service bulletin 17-057: Stop Sale/Safety Recall: 2013- 16 Accord Battery Management Sensor will be posted to the Service Information System (SIS) as a placeholder on Friday June 30, 2017. During the week of July 11,2017, the bulletin will be updated with the temporary remedy information. The bulletin will then contain warranty, parts, inspection, and repair information.

This jives with problems noted many times on the "check charging system" issues people have had in rainy weather. I assume all those people will get refunds and or a new replacement part, as we have noted before the original part number for the sensor has been unavailable and a replacement part number substituted. Should be an easy fix, but a real pain for the dealerships.

Battery Sensor Recall?

Went to book a service appointment online and this popped up. Didn't get a letter, says no description available when I search my VIN on the Honda recall look-up tool. Has anyone have this repaired yet?

EDIT:

It appears as though part #15 is the problem, P/N: 38920-T2A-A02.

In conjunction with possible weak battery charging conditions causing dead batteries WAY sooner than expected with the 9th gens. Maybe?

Need to keep an eye on it till replacement.

Another reason I truly appreciate this forum. News, bad or good, travels fast here.

EDIT: Looks good pin 2 - 2.7MOhm and pin 3 - 3.6MOhm They'll end up putting the Konishi Bond til new parts arrive. Yippee!

Does anyone think the "KA: 1,148,466" means All US except California emissions ? and that if one has a KL emissions there is no problem?
