Westminster Honda said they didnt now about about the TSB until I called, they dont have the software yet, and call back in 2 weeks.

Jim Coleman in Columbia said they knew about the TSB, have the software, and come in anytime, make appointment as soon as you can. I'm taking it in the morning.

The tsb refers to the issue being a slipping belt under certain conditions.

Given what we know about cvt operation, any thoughts on how they remedied this via software?

That is a good question. i am also wondering why this only applies to some 2015-2016 CVT Accords (and not the earlier 2013-14 models). Perhaps that is coming later...

Or having done TSB 13-053 on almost all 13-14 Accords-might have gotten the software update once the trans got its lower valve body replaced. I know they replaced the valve body and did a software update. Could be an ongoing trans problem that Honda can't seem to fix or figure out. At least the issue could be resolve with a software update to make the trans more "smarter" on how it handles situations in drive.

I'm really thinking it's not in my head anymore. This update did something to the CRV's CVT, it's much more tolerable now. It's gone from somewhat rough to slightly smooth around town. If Honda can get this right the CVT isn't all that bad for what it is. If they can get the 0-30 to feel like a geared automatic that would help a lot. Hopefully the next versions will be even better especially with the turbo drivetrains that should provide a nice low rpm powerband which is ideal for a CVT.

I'm thinking that that belt was slipping around in there for the last 13k. When getting into the throttle and then letting off, it wouldn't let off smoothly it was notchy or stepped. Now this is almost gone.

argen234 CVT, valve body? Got a reference? I didn't think cvt's used valve bodies.

I'm in the dealership right now for the CVT software update. I also pointed out the oil residue on the CVT body.

I was at the dealership yesterday to pick up my registration and went to the service department to inquire about this TSB. Nothing came up with my VIN as I was hoping. I have an 2016 EX accord, manufactured in April 2016. So it look like they already updated the software for the newer models.

sorry GPz1100, i've been away for a while. transmissions are a big gray area for me, so i'm attaching a DTC description. it sounds to me like the expected output based on PCM input to the drive pulley mismatches so the code is set.

i have not yet done this update either. my VIN also still does not show any campaigns or TSBs, so i will keep driving as normal.

Just checked with my selling dealer tonight on my 2016 EX-L, it's due for the firmware update. My VIN ends in 065738, manufacture date Nov 2015. Scheduled to get it done Aug 30.

Will update the thread after it's done.
