2016 V6 Accord Edmunds tested

Edmunds seems to have tested the 2016 Accord V6 sedan already. The acceleration results are just ok, looks like those 19s are not helping. They usually test out of CA Speedway which is mildly hot and altitude. I'm sure they use some correction factor but I was never clear if correction factors take into account things like pulled timing or pinging. And although some people claim fuel octane doesn't do anything, they were using 87 octane. Like usual, VSA slows times a couple tenths.

However Edmunds does like the 12.3" brakes, which they note were pretty fade resistant.

0-60 mph (sec.) 6.1
0-60 with 1 foot of rollout (sec.) 5.9
1/4-mile (sec. mph) 14.4 97.6

0-60 mph, trac ON (sec.) 6.4
1/4-mile, trac ON (sec. mph) 14.5 96.8

Well it does make a huge impact. 3 pounds of rotating mass is more than 10 static pounds.

5.9-6.1 is better than OK. What do you expect, 5.0-5.3 from a FWD family sedan?

I consistently was able to get 5.7's electronically monitored through OBD earlier this year.

Those times seem about right. 2016 Touring model gains about 50lbs, probably due to the new tech hardware. One thing they could do for the next generation is to put the car on a diet, lose a few hundred, and retain the same V6 powerplant for great increases in performance. 3600lbs for a FWD midsize is just too much.

quarter mile time is down .3 seconds and 0-60 is situational. Likely has just about no mileage on the car too.

Don't forget the rims and tires have added some weight.

This is Edmunds results from 2013, same track, same gas, same time of year, about same test mileage. The 2016 is a little slower by most measures, the biggest difference might be trap speed.

0-60 mph (sec.) 6.1
0-60 with 1 foot of rollout (sec.) 5.7
1/4-mile (sec. mph) 14.3 98.1

0-60 mph, trac ON (sec.) 6.3
1/4-mile, trac ON (sec. mph) 14.4 98.2

However the 2016 has much better 60-0 braking numbers, 116 ft vs 128 ft. Also the 2016 has better handling numbers.

Why not?

Mine cooks 60 in under 5.0...

I know at least 2 n/a V6 coupes running 0-60 even faster than that

Even better but how are you able to beat the professionals to 60 by a full second?

Well, realistically the car is probably cranking ~50 hp more than the stock 278.

When I was stock, the car was capable of this:

0-60 5.7
1/4 ET 14.4
1/4 trap 99.03

Now:
0-60 4.8
1/4 ET 13.7
1/4 trap 103.8

I'm also on a wider, and much lighter wheel and tire setup and carefully tuned with KTuner. I removed the entire intake resonator assembly and spare tire. I also learned to launch decently well but it's still very finicky, being an overpowered FWD..

In the hands of professionals at Car and Driver, and especially with their vbox equipment and measuring practices, it would be way faster. I have never liked C&D's numbers for these reasons. They're unrealistic.

One tenth of second and a half-mph slower in the quarter is statistically the same thing. When I took my car to the track I would get a 1/10nth of a second variation and up to a one-mph trap speed difference with back to back runs. The 19s might have contributed a tiny bit, but that is nothing you will feel on the road.

I think the biggest thing that affects runs is the IAT and ECT. The cooler we can keep it, the faster it'll run, almost guaranteed if you keep launches consistent.

I've noticed a relationship after logging my runs with KTuner.

I'm going to Atco on October 11th with some other 9th Gens, be great if you could join
