Rhino Rack, Yakima, Thule Roof Rack - Opinions?

I am in the process of purchasing a roof rack for my 2014 Honda Accord (sedan). With this rack I will be using it to carry my kayak and road bike.

Through research there seems to be a few different options - Yakima, Thule, and Rhino Rack. There seems to be a little bit of a difference in total price when comparing between these three manufacturers.

Looking at the Rhino Rack, it comes out cheaper. Has anyone on this forum experience with the Rhino Rack system? If so, what are your opinions on these?

Here is a thread that might help a bit with your research. Though Rhino racks weren't discussed, it seems there is a general consensus that you can't go wrong with either Thule or Yakima. Its the details that will sway your decision.

I run Thule racks with my 2 kayaks...very easy to to install and very stable. 58" bars (maybe 56"...not sure) with 2 sets of saddles (kayaks sit flat). The roof is wide enough so I don't hit my head getting out. I also have a Thule bike rack (2 bikes) that attaches to a trailer hitch on the back. Folds up nicely when not in use.

Also I found this helpful when I was first installing my roof rack. That is if you want to keep your paint in pristine condition.

Randy8 - Thank you for your input. I will check out the thread you posted. Although, I have owned Yakima on my previous BMW and Toyota FJ Cruiser and loved the quality of them. If it's even possible, I'm just trying to save a little bit of cash since I am also looking at a new bike. I didn't think of applying vinyl under the pads, that's a great idea. None of my other roof racks ever touched the paint since they already had vertical cross bars so that is great to know!

JIO - Sounds great. Out of curiosity, are you running the square or aero bars?

UPDATE:

I ended up ordering the Yakima rack off of Amazon. The Q Towers and Q5 clips are used. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for when I receive those two used components?

Have Yakima. Had them on my 4-door and then my coupe (only needed to change the clips). I liked them over the Thule b/c they are ridiculously easy to take off and on. 3 minutes to mount the bars, another 2-3 for the bike rack. Given their impact on mileage (even with the fairing) - that feature has kept me happy with them.

Also, one of the bike racks I purchased wouldn't hold well - reached out to Yakima, and w/in days they sent me a replacement. Their CS has sold me on them w/future purchases.

Did you get the cross bars as well? Use this following website to find out the all the proper measurements when installing the rack:

Choose 2013>Honda>Accord>4Dr>Naked Roof

If you run into any other issues I can help you through it.

For the bike mount, I went with RockyMounts. Reason being is the price point is better, they look nicer/sleeker (it tucks in nicely behind the fairing) and you could choose colors! I've had this mount for almost a year now and I love it.

To add on the comment about Yakima Customer Service, they are top notch. I had a small fitment issue on the Q Clips. They test fitted some new Q Clips on the their towers and sent me a new pair to replace mine. If you have any issues fitting them on your car feel free to call them.

JIO - Thanks man!

edu8rdo - Sounds great. Thanks for your input!

Randy8 - I did get the crossbars. I ended up going with the 58" but I will be cutting it down to where it hangs off 2" on both ends (I saw this in the thread you suggested and it looks great that way). I have used the RockyMounts in the past and I must say that are fantastic. I will look into them again! Thanks Randy.
