Illuminated Door Sill Trim - worth it?

Iv'e never been one to really mod my car. I installed the mudflats and grocery hook thus far (damn I'm all out - ha ha) but I'm on the fence about the illuminated door sill trim for the coupe.

Is it worth it? Has anyone installed it and later said "well that was a waste". Do passengers even notice it? Does it really protect against anything?

Or - after a while do you still think "that is the best factory mod ever"!

Let me know as I'm debating $200 for that or just throw it into savings and forget about it until something else neat comes along..or for my first maintenance (it better not cost that much). I just don't want to regret yet another purchase that really does nothing for me.

I am not inclined to mod my car, either. But I do have the OEM accessory illuminated door sill trim, and it is a sharp.....even elegant.....accessory, IMO.

I don't think there is much protection value, rather it is mostly cosmetic. In any case, no regrets, and I would do it again.

Check out YOSPEED.COM.
They made me Aluminum Door Sills. I kept the Aluminum color, as he makes other colors.
They are 28" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1/4" thick.

Save your money.

At the end of the day its just a garden variety car, is it really that important to have "Accord" lit up on your sills?

Would you be impressed if you went up to your neighbours Hyundai and saw "Sonata" sills light up? Silly when you think about eh?

I installed them a couple of years ago when I purchased my car. I liked them then and still like them now. I don't think they offer any protection but I don't drag anything over the metal threshold to begin with. The main reason I got them was a substitute for the missing courtesy lights on the EX-L models. The throwout I fair amount of light and look sharp.

It is a vanity thing, and therefore, no. I don't care if you have a BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, or a Bentley, it is still unnecessary vanity. (OK, maybe if I could own a Bentley, I might do it. That, and a neon sign above the car saying "Bentley", with an arrow pointing down. I would even be willing to live with the drag, and the gas mileage hit, that such a sign might cause.)

Nice looking, but not worth it to me. I did add the non-illuminated OEM sill plates over clear 3M film for both looks and protection and quite happy with that.

totally agree i have the same thing, the problem with the illuminated ones is it is chrome and scratches very easily thats is the sole reason i didn't get them and was leaning toward the non illuminated ones also the easy installation of them.

I have then, I like them, and I'd have them installed again. I too installed 3M film on them to avoid scratches. If you want them, I'd say go for it.

The illuminated door sill trim is one of the few accessories I added to my 2014 Accord. Is it worth it? Not really, but I like it and it does add an elegant touch to the car without looking gaudy.

The bottom line is the illuminated sills are a matter of personal taste, just like any other cosmetic accessory.

The illuminated door sills are an option I would never choose to have done.

Having said that, my car was parked inside the showroom when I found it and it happened to have illuminated door sills. Now that I've had the car for almost two years, I'm really glad that this option was on the car when I bought it.
