I thought the first service was free!

Hey everyone,

I could've sworn that my window sticker said my first service was free. Well no, 34 dollars.

I bought my car in Gwinnett, GA

Can anyone confirm that on the window sticker?

They sent me a free oil change in the mail, but I forgot to use it. Might just mention it to them

always make sure to clear up bonuses like these before you leave the lot with your new car

That wouldn't be on Honda's window sticker from the factory. The dealer may have placed something on the car stating that, but not Honda.

Lame, a local dealership is doing free first service no matter where you bought the car. I'm waiting to speak with the service manager to see if they will honor it.

First service (aka $30 oil change) being free is a deal maker/breaker for some?

Lol no, but it's just thrown in there. My local Honda has a July special of free oil changes for life. To some they see that as a huge bonus to buy NOW. Some see it as $30 every 5,000-7,000 miles or so (could save you around $500 for the first 100k). It's nice to have if you're going to buy anyways, but it shouldn't make or break a deal.

..I'd be looking for that in the price of the vehicle

I got mine free for the first 2 years.
I never go to the dealership though lol.

I like to do everything myself.
Since I know they like to do it quick....never clean and always paranoid LOL

Wish i could give it to someone else that would actually use it.
Props to Spring Branch Honda and a friend that made the deal for me!!!

One of the dealers I was negotiating with was running a special for two years of free oil changes. That didn't sway me since I like to do it myself, but it was available.

My girlfriend tried to get two years' maintenance included when she bought her Elantra, but they wanted to change her monthly payments to get that added. I want to say it would have ended up costing her about $500, which is laughable when you consider that it should only need oil changes, tire rotations, and maybe an air filter in that time. I can easily do all that for her (or teach her) and it would cost a fraction of that.

Anyway, the point is it's a dealer-by-dealer thing. If they don't honor it, it's not the end of the world. $34 isn't bad for a synthetic oil change... that's only a few bucks more than it costs me to do it myself.

I think some people here have reported that their dealer gave them lifetime oil and filter service.

Yup, as others have stated dealer promo, not a factory standard.

I negotiated 6 free oil changes and wash/waxes. About to take mine in for its first oil change as a matter of fact...that and some warranty tail light paint chip and interior rattle work
