JDM Type R Emblem Package Install - 9th Gen Coupe

I ordered the JDM emblem package from GrafiXpressions....front, rear & steering wheel.

The steering wheel emblem virtually installs on its own. It's contoured such that it almost self centers over the existing chrome Honda logo. All that's required is cleaning of the mounting surface and removal of the JDM emblem's backing paper. If you screw this up, you should probably stop here and consult a professional.

I've seen the Youtube videos and posts about breaking off the OEM front emblem from the outside using a knife or other leverage device. Sorry, but I wasn't impressed with that advice. Instead, I removed the plastic shield over the horns and horn assemblies themselves. Using a pair of 70 degree bent needle nose pliers I removed the mounting prongs and barbed rings from behind the grill. The OEM emblem's mounting studs are pretty soft, so they break off rather easy. Once the studs are removed, the OEM emblem will almost fall out of the grill on its own. After a quick wash of the mounting surface, the JDM emblem was ready to mount. The front JDM emblem is a direct drop-in....surface area and locator pins are absolute bulls-eyes. Just remove the JDM emblem's backing paper, line up the JDM emblem's locator pins with the OEM grill holes and press.

I removed the OEM trunk emblem starting from the inside of the trunk lid. Remove the flat upholstery fasteners, and the trunk lid liner will almost fall off under its own weight. My OEM trunk emblem was secured with double sided tape at the top and bottom. I applied pressure to the OEM emblem's locator pins from inside the trunk and carefully lifted the OEM emblem away from the trunk lid. It removed intact...it's reusable and there's no damage!

The adhesive residue came off pretty quickly. I found that the best way to fight the adhesive reside was with another adhesive. I pressed duct-tape to the residue and lifted straight-up. I had to repeat the process several times, but the results were astounding.

Since the JDM locator pins don't match the trunk lid's OEM mounting holes, I had to mark reference points using blue masking tape, a measuring tape and an ink pen on both the trunk lid and JDM emblem.

As mentioned above, the JDM locator pins don't match the trunk lid's OEM mounting holes. As such, the JDM emblem's locator pins need to be removed. I simply cut them off and dremeled them below the plane of the adhesive mounting surface. After cleaning the mounting surface with alcohol, the JDM trunk emblem was ready to align and press on. I'm kinda' diggin' the results.

Looks pretty good. I've been wondering what the red JDM badges would look like on a WOP coupe. Got any full car shots??

Badges look nice. I like how you didn't half ass your trunk lid mounting and made sure that it was aligned good.

Next time though, can you please not change the font to a different colored, smaller font? It makes it harder to read with unnecessary zooming between small text and large pictures.

Here're the pics....

When I first considered buying the JDM emblems I was somewhat concerned about the "Rudolph effect," but after getting everything mounted I'm really diggin' the look. Plus I'm enjoying the fact that I can distinguish my car from 90% of the 9th gen Accord population.

Around here, a majority of these VTEC racers usually have these red emblems all over there Teggys and Civics. Attracts a lot of unwanted attention from cops to mad jdm tyte street racers reving their fart cans at you.

Looks nice on your car though.

Looks pretty sweet! I've thinking of doing the emblems but not sure how the red emblems would look on my red coupe.
