For them to go further $1250+tax if it's covered then you don't pay diagnostics or cost of repair, but if it isn't covered you're responsible for the diagnostic
Note if it's not covered and you want to repair it, the diagnostics goes towards the repair
Also note if it's not covered and you decline they'll charge you to put it back together.

Then he said he asked if he could fax me an authorization for so they could start taking it apart so I told him to email. Thts when the service manager wanted me to call him so I did he wanted to go over on wht was cover and not seals gaskets etc are cover but not cover gears and synchronizers,
I did called American Honda and they went thru the list with me Transmission / Transfer Case
Case and all internal parts; torque
converter; transfer case and all internal
parts; transmission/powertrain control
module; seals and gaskets.
Now my ? Wouldn't the synchro would be included there?

Sorry alot
Iím a little confused. If you are only having an issue with second gear grinding, the components that need to be replaced should be covered under warranty. I would escalate the issue with Honda but be sure to tell them exactly whatís going on with the car and the dealership youíre dealing with. I find two things odd about this situation: 1) the dealer is texting you with updates 2) the fact that they wanted your written permission to take apart the transmission. It seems like they are doing this to cover their behinds so they can charge you for the labor on either end. When the service manager asked for my authorization to take apart my transmission, it was done over a phone call and was pretty simple. No signature or forms were needed. Forgive me if this is standard protocol though...Iím not too sure. If itís not too late, I would take the car to another dealership.

Anyway, synchros should be covered for sure under warranty. See the attached image for the parts that were replaced during my second gear failure.

I'd suspect abused sycros could be considered wear items.

That's what I'm thinking, too. It's one thing for a defective gear tooth to break off and lunch the tranny. It's another when a driver beats on the gearbox, clutch, drive axles, etc. Synchros are gonna fail early when abused - and usually it's the 1st to 2nd gear shift synchro. Not enough Synchromesh on Earth will fix that. I'm not implying that the OP is at fault here but I understand that bad synchronizers this early on can be a by-product of driving habits.

I hope Honda takes care of this but the current dealership scene does not seem to want to take any ownership of the problem. Contact Honda and try a different dealer. And do your best to keep the odometer under 60K miles until this is resolved. Good luck and keep us up-to-date.

Picked it up today and dropped it off at another dealer b4 heading there I spoke with the service manager and he told me tht it is covered, and it might be tht also as I am the 2nd owner of the car only put on it 9k in 11 month don't beat on it either since I do have my track and street legal toy and bike, the accord it's when I'm out with the family. I had 2012 and 2015 si nvr had those problems but then again who knows who was the 1st owner and how badly he beat on it. But thanks alot for your responses and help I appreciate it.
