Question WHY WON'T MY HOME BURNED CDs PLAY IN THE CAR?

Hi,
I burn my own audio cds with music I get on the internet. They play on all 4 of my home computers, stereo cd player, and dvd player on my TV, but won't play in my 2006 Accord Coupe 6 disc player with navigation.
I use Memorex CDR+W discs and burn them as .wav files at the slowest speed.
Do you have any suggestions.

Thanx,

The Accord won't play MP3s on the stock stereo. You have to have a special MP3 player to play those files.

Trying burning the CD as a regular CD (15-20 songs), and you should be OK.

What software are you using to burn the CD's? Try burning them using iTunes. Make sure to choose audio CD, not mp3 or data as the burning option and use a CD-R, not a CD-RW. If it doesn't work, try a different brand of CD-R.

CDR-W are not good with audio. Use CDR instead. The 7th gen HU will not play MP3 or WMA format.

All the suggestions above are very good. I don't recall if our cars will play CDR+W's but if they do, you need to be sure you closed or finalized the disk. An unclosed disk is nearly guaranteed not to play.

Since you are buring them as a .wav file we can eliminate that they are not mp3 or wma files. R+ doesn't play very well in a lot of player. You probably either need to finalize the disc or burn the music to straight CDRs.

Where did you find CD+RW's? The + or - is an option for DVD writables, not CD's.

You should have CD-R or CD-RW. (CD-R is what I recomend...dont bother with the RW's)

My 04 plays them both when burned as an audio disc.

Our 09 Ody play MP3 discs though, which is really nice.

He is not burning MP3/WMV discs. He is making standard audio CD's, but using CD-RW discs, which are not very compatible with most car stereos. As others suggested, he needs to use CD-R's, not CD-RW's. I also recommend adding the Honda OEM rear spoiler and tinting the windows, and that red coupe will look even better.

That is also true. I burn audio CD's at 4x, even when the burner can burn faster.

Thanks for all of your input.
I will let you know of the outcome at a later date. I haven't the time to mess with this stuff for now.
You guys really know your stuff about CDs.
