Added my Garmin GPS and Escort 9500ix Radar Detector

Installed my first accessory add-ons over the weekend on my 12 day old '13 Crosstour EX-L.

I did not get Factory Navi as I already have a very nice Garmin Zumo 665 GPS that rides with me on my '05 Honda Goldwing motorcycle and came with extra mounts to also be used in a automobile. I saw no need to spend the extra $$$$ on the Factory Navi system. I ordered a Dashmount for the Crosstour from Proclip and ended up with a pretty clean GPS install.

The Zumo GPS has full audio capabilities (XM/radio/traffic/weather and MP3/Audio Books playback) that I don't plan to use while in the Crosstour as the Crosstour can do XM radio built in and my iPod takes care of the Music and Audio books. But I do like the Traffic tied in with the GPS functionality, so I'm looking into a FM Traffic receiver that Garmin sells that is also compatible with the Zumo in lieu of an XM connection. That way I don't also have to move the XM radio "Puck" (as seen on the dashboard) back and forth between the Car and the motorcycle...

I also installed a Escort Passport 9500ix Radar/Laser Detector mounted to the rear-view mirror using a MirrorMountTM Radar Detector Mirror Mount.

(Not my Car)

A MirrorTap, 1000/2000 Series, Radar Detector, Power Cord that taps into the power available on the back of the rear-view mirror is used to power the RD.

All in all I think it made for a pretty clean install...

The dash will be a little cleaner when the XM Puck is gone, replaced with a FM receiver that is part of the power cord for the GPS.

I have a traffic receiver from Garmin. Not the HD one though. It is pretty slow and not very good.

A smart phone with sigalert webpage or app running is the best. Waze is also good. Realtime info.

I'm about to hard wire a Valentine 1 this weekend on my '06. I don't like to have a cable hanging there when parked so I'm going to make a short cable that stays on the device and plugs into a port I mount on courtesy light/sunglass area.

That mirror mount doesn't look bad. Mirror mount's price is just right also.

I was going to make my own for my new Valentine 1 unit. Probably will still because my version looks like I can remove the twisty arm more easily. I want to leave as small of a footprint as possible to deter smash and grabs when I park. Only the ball would be on the mirror stem. Alarm doesn't mean jack around my parts. They just smash your window, grab your stuff and drive off in under 10 seconds. They don't care if anyone sees.

The RAM mount looks like a good idea! With all the stuff I have on my motorcycles using RAM mounts I'm surprised now I didn't think of doing it that way myself on my Accord and Crosstour!

What will you use to connect the RAM diamond mount to the Valentine 1?

I'll probably mount the Ram 1" ball diamond base on the V1's visor mount with the visor clip removed. All of the Valentine 1 comes with 2 mounts surprisingly.

I do have other Ram mount stuff arriving today for a tablet mount setup. Xgrip and some socket arms.

I will zip tie the diamond base on the stem and attach the socket arm to get a feel before I make an order. I might even attach the V1 with some zip ties for a few seconds to get a feel. One could also maybe use a phone x-grip on a radar detector if they wanted to.

I'm also working on a phone jack so I will have no dangling wires when parked.

I like the "Phone Jack" idea, very clean!

I just hope know one tries to plug their telephone into it!

A replacement light cover is $3 that is why I picked that spot.

I also have a Bluevue DR500 dash camera on its way. I should probably make my own thread with all of the things I've got going on.

I'm not sure if the wiring harness is the same in the CT, but here's a link for people that installed & hardwired the V1 in their Pilots. The lights look the same so it may be worth a look.

I did tap the wires on my map lights to a temp setup. The 12v+ wire up there is always hot so I was afraid to use that source. I don't have extra features like BT or auto dimming.

Just did a hardwire today for the V1 using a mini tap a fuse in the kick panel.

I just need to buy a harbor freight $20 dremel to add the phone jack.
