19" or 20" rims on a 2006 accord

i have a 2006 Honda accord ex coupe and would like to up grade my car's rims. i have this one particular rim in mind, the dimensions for the rims are 19x8.5 or 20x8.5 and the tire dimensions are 225/35 for the 19s and the 20s. my car is completely stock and i do not want to do anything that would ruin it. my question is will either one of these fit perfectly without any rubbing? will i have to upgrade my suspension? are the rims too wide, the stock ones are 8"? and what do u guys think about the difference in the ride comfort from switching from the stock 16" rims to the 19s or 20 inch rims?

i was reading a few forums about people putting 19s and 20s on their accords and got mixed results. many have complained about there tires rubbing although there tires were way too wide, IMO (255/35/20 on one). i would really appreciate your comments and opinions.

fitment will depend on offset. suspension will not be required, but you definitely will want to lower it, because the ginormous gap will be even more noticeable with bigger rims. stock rims are 6.5" wide, not 8.

ride quality will suffer a lot. it will be a lot rougher and stiffer.

thanks...

I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is but i think its 5x114.3 and if it is the offset for the rim is 40.

hopefully that's helpful.

sorry made a mistake.

offset 20 will not work at all. it will stick out the side of your car like 3 cm.

What offset do I need in order to fit 19 or 20 on the car... Will an offset of 40 be enough to be clear of the fenders? i might have made a mistake on my last reply.

40 offset will still rub.

he had 19x8" with +48 offest, 235/35/19 tires, and it still rubbed.

that is one beautiful car, is there any way to get around the rubbing with 19s? i see that the car is dropped pretty good, could that be one of the reasons? he states: "I went with +48. If i went with 7.5 width, i woulda been okay." so if i go that route would i be okay?

that would probably be ok. you can also get your fenders rolled for a little bit of extra clearance. poke through the suspension forum on there. many people have 18+ rims so they have first hand experience as to what will work and what wont.
