Leaking oil in Distributor

I have a 1999 LX accord. Problem is leaking oil on the inside of the distributor. Read that one can replace the seal around the distributor shaft or replace the shaft entirely. If I replace the seal, where can I buy such part and where can I find instructions how to this? The present distributor is made by hitachi.

My car has developed that same problem too. Hoping getting the distributor replaced will fix the problems I sometimes have starting my car. I wish I had the confidence to replace this part myself, but with the timing and everything, I'd rather have a mechanic do it. Most places will tell you they can just replace the gasket to get you in, but then will say you need to replace the whole distributor. About $400 or so for the job, oh well...

If you have oil leaking inside the distributor, the entrire distributor housing needs to be replaced. Changing the o-ring that fits between the distributor and engine will not stop an internal oil leak. The oil is leaking between the rotating shaft and the bearing in the housing.
There is no replaceable seal between the distributor housing and shaft. If its leaking the bearing is worn out or your engine is creating too much internal pressure and forcing oil past the distributor bearing. A plugged PCV valve might cause over pressure, but on a high mileage engine it is likely the piston rings are worn.
New distributors are not cheap, so you might want to visit the salvage yards for a replacement. Obviously check for oil inside before buying a used distributor.
If you want to see a Honda/Acura distributor being worked on, there is a nice video from Eric the Car Guy (my favorite mechanic). Select the Replacing Acura Distributor video.

Correction, i didn't got into detail when i was reading... my distributor leaks outside... Nothing under the car but i got oil trail from under distributor down the engine.

Mechanic said it will need a new gasket. But it's probably just a couple bolts and 5$ gasket.

Any Advice?

I thought I was the only one having this issue... I've had my 2000 lx sedan for a little over 2 years and 30k+ miles and have gone through 3 of them.

My 1999 LX 4 cylinder 163000 miles is also leaking at the ditributor base and not into it. Is it just an O ring? I had it out recently and thought is was more like a seal. But at he time i was tying to correct another problem and didnt pay real close attention.
