ECU/PCM Reflash?

For those of you who had the dealership do an ECU/PCM reflash to try to fix certain problems, and claimed they put in the "lastest". Do you know if the newer software (2010/2011) is compatible on an older car (2008/2009)?

Or was there an update in the early years hence that would be the "latest"?

How much should I expect to pay for a dealership reflash?

The reflash you speak of makes all 08 -09 compatible to 2010 standards. Unless there is a newer one available since December of 2010.

The cost should be free if you have had purchased a Certified car since the begining of the year.

You can call the service department and ask if you can have a free update if your ECU / PCM meets the requirments. They will prolly need to connect the computer up and check version software for each, before the update can be deturmined.

I have a 2008 ExL navi K24Z3 accord.
When they put in 2011 version Long Block New Engine under warranty, they re flashed the software to 2011 version for engine and tranny.
I know that the new 2011 has a slightly different tranny that has the similar coolant loop for tranny as is for the throttle body, I hope this would not be damaging in long run.

The ride is totally different now. there is more low end torque and tranny uses longer duration the 4th gear as compared to factory programing. There is no oil consumption so far after 3500miles of 0W20. MPG is 1.5 better than before, ie city/highway combined is solid 27.8

When I step on the pedal to change lanes or merge, there's a noticable lag like 2sec before it accelerates. Very annoying when merging and require revving high. My vin doesnt fall in the range of the 08 low power TSB but hopefully the dealer would be willing to reflash (I guess to 2010).

I don't think dealer has any control on version of firmware installed. They hook up the HDS and it tells them if ECU is up to date and updates accord to its software .

I also doubt very much you can reflash to a newer yr as things, though small do change and that would just be bad idea, looking for trouble .

Rattmann, you got new engine, that most likely is what feels good, they just check if firmware is up to date on your year (vin # ).

hmm... I guess i'll just ask them to see if there's an update for my perticular car. If not, maybe a reflash with the existing version. In previous threads, I saw a bunch of 08's that got the reflash which sort of fix the low response issue.

Does any body have TSB number for the low power issue? I thought these cars are programmed with lag to meet EPA estimates.

The only firmware update on the 2.4L is this one, which back in 08 only applied to early models that didn't get update right off the line .

Even the 08 were all suppose to be checked at pre delivery check list .

you are right about the delay
there is a aftermarket device you can connect to remove the delay.
2011 accord has the pedal brake priority safety protocol.

Thanks for the quick update...Yes i did order Ithrottle. So we don't have to worry abt this TSB? Will this TSB fix the lag issue we are having???
Not so confident abt ithrottle, its looks flimsy ...Hope it doesnt take off like Toyotas.

No, If your vehicle was not update you should make sure it is . anything above 09 should have update at factory . The update if you read my post with link has to do with a to sensitive knock senor data input which ends up retarding the timing and giving low power and lower mpg .

The throttles don't really change anything with ECU they just have different output curves that the ECU reads when you move throttle .they basically amplify your throttle inputs .

A day later, do you think this made a difference in your acceleration problem? I've coughed up the issues I've encountered on the A/C, since I recently bought my '08 (used, 70k miles) and it's too damn hot to not use it.
