It don't matter. I've used Fram for more than two decades now. They are bulit pretty good, but air filters are suppose to be disposable, so that does it really matter vs the cheap stuff.

Use K&N now.

It boils down to which one fits/seals better in the airbox. The filtering elements are close enough to be the same. Better fitment = better filtering, less dirty air enters around the edges.

Wix makes fine products across their production line. I would not hesitate to use Wix air/oil filter at all. Fram Air filter is ok. I use their carbon air filter, helps make polluted air in Houston smell better. Fram oil filter, on the other hand.. stay away!!

Do the K&N filters make a different sound when you increase speed? my friend put one in his civic and it seemed to make a "woooshing" sound hahaha. Just curious.

I prefer WIX. Either is fine for in-cab filter...oil filter = stay away from fram. FRAM stands for F*n Ruined Another Motor.

Is that from what you heard or read? Is it from the youtube video of where people cut up their filter and said WTF, it's made out of cardboard?

Are there any evidence that Fram oil filter leads to engine failure? There are more year's of history with your age and mine combined. If it's true, they would be out of business.

I first learned of their Failure at the drag strip long ago... There are several cases of oil-filter failure that have ruined Several nice motors, on the track and off. There are multiple cases of canister seperation, filter seperation, and not to mention the canisters collapsing when trying to take them off (yes, by experienced mechanics/builders).

FRAM has not improved in over thirty years. Their cannisters are very thin compared to those used in other filters. Their gaskets are flimsy, stick to mounts, and tear easily. They are just a big name company with lots of advertising (wal-mart, autozone, etc.) and a cheap product, that's why they are still around.

Here are some of my fav's from BITOG...
