More K24Z3 Engine Info?

Does anyone else have more information on this engine?
The only site that seems to show some info other than this place is clubrsx, but even that forum on k engine seems a bit dead.

something other than specs. we all know its 177/161 and 190/162 lb. tq. any articles, what its compatible w/, etc.

Oh, Ok well between K24Z2 and Z3 the engines (long block, intake manifold to exhaust cat are the same ).

These engines are not compatible with older K24A's as far as crank, block, head, cams etc (its new design) .

f--k..some of the K24A have 7600 rpm redlines overseas?

damn once again the US gets shaft

yes, but in stock trim 7600 not really that useful as power drops hard after 7000, I can see few 100 above that and thats it .

Hondadata has reflash to bring sportshift to 7600 on old gen1 TSX,
Those specs don't seem right above the old TSX had like 205 hp and 164-166 tq . The new K24Z3 TSX lost few hp(201hp) but gained 8 ft/lb Tq (172 ft/lb)

so in your opinion, which model now has the best k24 engine? the 1st Gen TSX K24A2 or the 2nd Gen TSX/8th Gen Accord K24Z3? who's the king?

I guess it depends on your goals, if you plan on modifying the engine the K24A2 of older tsx has more options right now, it has Vtec on both cams unlike newer which has it only on the intake side .
you can find headers, cams, Kpro, reflash etc . That doesn't mean newer ones won't get support but as vehicles get more advanced it takes longer to get R&D done. I do think new K24Z3 has many improvements over last without sacrificing peak hp much, added TQ through mid range helps every day use more than few hp at top end .

if i had any say, i think i'd still rather have the higher redline, if nothing else, so the motor doesn't fall so far out of the power band after a shift.

it's too bad they didn't even offer atleast a 6 speed manual for the i4.

i think with a 7600 cutoff and 6 speed manual this car could get into 14s..

true, on the MT it should be slightly higher IMO, on the auto its to bad there no speedshift option with higher redline . I can see why they did it, K24 is long stroke engine setup for low-mid range torque as your piston speed goes way up . AFAIK 7600 on K24 is like 8600 on the K20 (piston velocity ).
I guess they could of raised fuel cutoff and leave shift points alone, that would of worked too for EX's 2.4L but again accord is not marketed as sports sedan/coupe.

You should be able to go to 7300 rpm on EX (7000 on LX ) before fuel cut-off, which not bad .

I really hope Honda moves to a 6 speed auto, and one with dual clutches to get rid of converter . Plus 6 speed option on manual . It seems this is going mainstream as you get same mpg as MT (no converter losses) but with performance from wider gear ratios (6 speeds) available .
