Exclamation Oil light on when braking hard

Has anyone experienced the oil light coming on when braking hard?
I had to slam on my brakes for a racoon the other day, and the oil light came on. Then, on Friday night someone pulled out in front of me and the same thing happened again.

I have never experienced this in any other vehicle.

I'd bet that you have your oil underfilled. Do you do your own changes or have it done? If you have it done, where? If it's underfilled it could potentially splash around when you brake hard, taking pressure off the sensor momentarily. Have you checked your oil level?

I usually go to a partictular dealership for oil changes because they wash the car and the price is good. They have good customer service for the most part. It just takes a long time there, so I went to another dealer last time. It was just an oil change place on site at the dealer. They didn't even reset my check engine/oil light.

I've been busy all weekend. I'll check it when I get home tonight.

yea most likely oil level is low so when you suddenly stopped it all rushed to the front of the pan leaving the part with the sensor with no oil

I don't believe the Accord has an oil level sensor; only a low-oil pressure sensor. If that's the case, you're probably well under the 'min' level.
EVERYBODY should check oil level regularly!!!

I should check my oil regularly. I just have become too comfortable with the "new car" feeling. I smell burnt petroleum sometimes after oil changes.

The warning comes on from low low pressure. My bet is the oil is low enough that when you slammed on the brakes the oil pickup went dry for a second causing a drop in pressure. VERY BAD!!!!!!

I doubt the dealer underfilled the oiled. On the other hand, there have been people on carcomplains.com(something on those lines) that complain that the car burned through oil like crazy. I on the other hand have never noticed any reduction in the amount of oil at least nothing over 1/8th of a qt. Check it out, maybe next time you do your oil change or get it done make note of the oil level and then check it once a week to see how much oil is actually being consumed. How many miles do you have? maybe take it in especially if its under warranty to see what the problem is. Good luck man.

Dont wait til you get home, check it after you get off before you start it (it should be settled enough so you don't have to wipe it and dip it again) this way if you are low you can stop on the way and pick up a quart or so and pour it right away. Driving with low oil pressure is very bad, dont be stupid. <-not calling you stupid, but will if you continue to drive and ignore the advice you asked for.

I'll definitely check it when I get off. I have a lot of stop and go traffic on the route that I have to take today. Usually I'm on the interstate 96% of the time.

When I used to drive my last car, I checked the oil all the time because it was 4 years old when I bought it. I drove it 8 years. I just got in mindset with this car that warranty will cover anything, but oil is definitely a maintenance priority.

Thats a dangerous mindset though. Consider the warranty a safety net, your accord is a tight rope, and you are the tight rope walker. If you don't constantly check on the condition of the rope it will surely break, and the net will be there to catch you but will still cost you. You will lose the rope and possibly your job, lol. Ofcourse, with no safety net (warranty) the fall will murder you (your wallet), but you shouldn't rely on the net.

I came up with this on the fly, hope it makes sense.

check the oil asap. don't ignore the possibility of a leak at the filter or drain plug also.
