Buying HID kit....35w or 55w?

So I'm buying an HID kit...but don't know whether to get a 35w or 55w. Ive searched and seen that a 35w has a more true colour but a 55w will have a brighter output.

So anybody care to share their opinions, or their experiences with what they have? Pics would be great but not necessary, I've seen a few in other threads already.

Any input would be great, and actually, quite needed lol

brighter is better both for performance and for looks but the ballast will die out quicker because the higher output.

Usually, a 55W 6000k looks like a 35W 5000k. 55W is definitely brighter. But you DEFINITELY need a relay harness for it. 35W you might be able to get away without using one.

I would personally go with a 55W kit because I already seen how bright a 35W kit is. I always crave for something better. Still, 35W will be a drastic improvement over your halogen lights if you get 5000K or below.

EDIT: By the way, photos will don't really display the true color of the HIDs. I noticed that 5000k, 6000k looks alot more blue than it really is on photos.

+1. If you're going 6000k+ get 55w. Your color will be crisper and whiter if that makes sense. For instance I have 8000k 55w and I get a nice crisp white light but if I were to have purchased the 8000k 35w HIDs it would make it look like I'm driving under water.

I see that you have the DDM HID kit. Would you happen to know the differences among all the different bulb types? Which one did you get?

You need to get the one specific to your car. I think the 9006 conversion kit fits the Honda Accord 08 Sedan.

i have a 35W kit. i always thought itd be nice to be brighter, but it still looks fantastic at 35W. massive improvement over stock. danger of 55W is that the car was designed for 35W so you can fry harnesses with 55W and it will cost A LOT to get new wire harnesses.

35w should be plenty. never really bought into the whole 55w, they say they are brighter but seriously how bright can you get in a "fake" projector. If you were to put 55w in halogen housing it would blind people

Has anyone, with a 35w 6000k kit, been pulled over?

The 55w in my s2000 projector retrofit are awesome, but I agree as with others. 55w needs a harness and relay, you can potentially fry your electrical if you go through stock. It's easy to buy a harness and relay with your kit when you buy them from anyone reputable. 35w is good enough in a halogen projector like the stock accord and don't know if you would have other adverse affects at 55w other than the wiring in the long run. Hmmm, tough one. 35w safe, 55w good color and output.

No. Why would we get pulled over? 6000k is still pretty white.
