Massachusetts Window Tinting

So I have a 2011 EX-L Coupe and I'm planning on tinting my windows but the state limit on tints here is 35%, I've had that amount on my windows on my previous car, but it still seemed too light for my tastes. But since I don't wanna get slapped with a huge ass ticket, is there any way I can get the rear quarter windows and the back windshield down to 20% without getting police attention?

If you are going by the books, no. Per the below tiny laws in MA that I Googled:

Tint darkness for sedans:
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
Front Side windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Back Side windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Rear Window: Must allow more than 35% of light in.

Georgia has the same limits but I've had 20% tint on every car I've owned in the last 15 years with no issues, I guess it depends on how the police are in your city. If I did ever get pulled over for it I'll just say the car came like this from the factory lol.

Damn it's cool you guys can have35% all the way around. In California no tint is allowed on the front windows but we can 5% limo tint the back 3 windows kinda weird. Any yea is go 20% all the way around you will probably be ok. Also depends on your interior color. I have the horrible tan interior And 20% on my car looks like 35% on a black interior car.

Wow, no tint on the front windows... That is crazy, but yeah 20% all the way around with black interior will be nice and dark.

Depends on cop. I would say have the front windows lighter so it doesnt look to dark. But it depends if its sunny or cloudy & color of vehcile on how dark it will look. Ive had 20s all around on previous car & 45 on windshield. Never got a ticket. Now, my coupe accord, i have 5s all around & 45 on windshield. Still no ticket *knock on wood*.

btw i live in Chicago.

No tint is allowed on the front windows in NJ. I have 35% all around except windshield and haven't been bothered. I see many cars in NJ with tint. I think it depends on the car you drive. There is no shortage of very flashy and expensive luxury vehicles where I live, which cops love to pull over. Our Accords are not high profile targets for minor stops like tint.

I'm in MA and the shop I got my tint said 35% all around is the legal limit. Of course I have a black interior so it looks darker than 35%, I'm happy with it and have not gotten pulled over .

In NYC If your car is mainly stock they won't mess with you. But once you enter loud exhaust AND tinted windows it ups your chances of getting pulled over. I have 35 all around and will be tinting my windshield with 45 I have been pulled over because of a combination of tints, very low drop And loud exhaust (cat delete/test pipe) but luckily I have family in law enforcement so I have a lifetime pba card and a family member pba shield so they always let me go.

I'm in NY and I have 20% front and back. It's not bad during the day, but it's really dark at night. My car is black and I have black leather.

So i got the tints done last week and I'm not too satisfied with the job they did. Theres small bubbles on each window and the upper section of the back windshield isn't even adhered to it. Its held together by tape. These guys did a horrible job and it cost me $200 including labor. I'm going to call them back and get a refund, but I'm only getting the cost of the tints back, not the labor (which doesn't seem like it was all spent on my car). If you're in the Boston area, don't go to Auto Tuners in Malden

sheesh, I mean a few bubbles are usually normal and disappear with time but tape to hold the top portion down is just down right messed up! Post some pictures up let us see.

So the first pic is the tape holding the film up on the back windshield, and the second is the back windshield. I took the second pic the day I got the tints in, now that white space has grown to that whole upper portion
