ABS and VSA

I have a 2008 Honda Accord EX (4cyl). Sometimes when I am driving both the VSA and ABS lights come on and stay on. The next time I start the car again it's off. I took it to the dealer this past Saturday. They told me they had to reprogram the VSA or something like that. But for the ABS they said they had to order the part and have to wait until tomorrow for them to fix it. The other day the VSA light came on again (I thought they fixed this). Why is it still turning on? Does the ABS and VSA work together or something? Should I bring the VSA light to there attention again? Any suggestions?

Yes, they work together. The VSA system depends on the ABS module to use independent braking at each wheel to correct for under/over steer. I would bring it to their attention if the new part/reptrogram doesn't solve the problem. You definitely have a unique problem...

Thanks mhadden! That's exactly what they said they had to fix too (the ABS module). Sorry I forgot what it was called. Thanks again that helps a lot.

ABS and VSA???

I have a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe. I am also going through the same situation with my VSA and ABS lights coming on while driving, and then when I turn the car off and start it up again the lights go away. I am curious when you took it to the dealer for them to hook it up to the computer was a code stored or where you lucky enough to have the lights on when you brought it in? My dealer is telling me that I need to bring it in when the lights are on, and that is kind of hard to do since I don't know when it will happen. If there wasn't a code stored I was just planning on telling them to look into the ABS module issue?

I'd be more concerned about the CEL than VSA, but both need to be resolved. And BUCKLE UP. Good luck.

Also check the switch on the brake pedal. If it loose or comes unplugged you will get vsa+abs.

Just poke your head down but the brake pedal with a flashlight. Follow the pedal up to t'wards under the dash. There is a sensor with wires about half way up on the side facing the rear of the car. The plug is white, the sensor is black. Just make sure it is plugged it.
