Everything should be the same except the 10th digit, that would be a "9" for a 2009, an "A" for a 2010, and a "B" on a 2011.

The trim levels, plant codes, body types are the same so nothing else should differ.

NOT reason is for people that have bought used.... the VIN would let them know which trim they have. Sales people have been known to tell things that aren't quite true.

Does anyone know how to decode the Sequential Production Number? I know that that can tell you when the car was assembled (day of the week, time and so on). My friend bought a Honda Odessy and a few pins were missing here and there. When he decoded that number, he found out that the car was made on Friday last shift. That explained the reason for missing parts.

Also, what is the check digit?

That info is not in the VIN per se. Your local Honda dealer can run what amounts to a build sheet which, used to anyway, include the actual day the car was built along with the hour that it rolled off, completed, the assembly line.

Lots of info can come from the complete VIN, but many specific items cannot be simply determined by just looking at the VIN itself.

Hope that helps.
