squealing noise when reversing

Whenever I reverse my car makes a squealing noise and gets quieter the harder I push my brakes in.

sounds like pads, could be dirty. do you use ceramic pads or drilled/slotted rotors?

That is how the brake wear indicators work, get the brakes checked before the metal backing plate grinds into the rotor and require more expensive repairs!

One of my former coworker went throught this, he called in one morning to say he's going to be late coming into work because his brake pads AND rotors needed to be replaced as the brake ground into the rotor, I asked him if he had noticed scraching/squeaking noise recently, he said he did but he didn't think it was important, then the noise stopped so he didn't think he needed to do anything.

What he didn't realize was the squeaking was the brake wear indicator tabs lightly touching the rotors telling him the brake pad is low, eventually the tabs broke off which explained why there were no more noise, until the NOISE came back in a big way when the metal backing plate of the now worn out brake started grinding into the rotors.

Do all brakes need to be changed or just the back ones?

The noise is coming from the rear so I'm assuming only the back ones need to be changed
