Do you believe in prayer of any type?

So do you believe in prayer? Regardless of your faith - no arguments here please. Not trying to start WW3, just a simple yes/no.

If you believe in prayer, mind saying one for us? My aunt gave birth to a little baby boy 2 months premature, 1.8kg. Her last two died, one at birth, one at one month. The kid didn't cry when he came out and has a weak heartbeat.

Yes, I believe in prayer!

Done!

I will continue to lift this up as I know how it feels to lose a child.

I voted Yes.

I'm catholic and have basically gone to church each sunday for as long as I can remember (still missing the odd weekend here and there)...There are odd times when I feel that praying really does nothing, but being religious I still do it esp when times are bad as it helps me through things, and if praying does help then all the better as well. I know when things get bad I always do turn to prayer...

Ben I'll be sure to have your Aunt's baby in my mind when I go to church this sunday...hope he pulls through alright (I was born premature as well...about 3-4 weeks or so).

EDIT: Corrected the name...don't know how I messed that up.

Somewhat.

I believe in prayer.

However, I do not believe that prayer will automatically grant you something. A prayer is not a wish and God is not a genie.

Prayer+effort+god's plan == maybe you'll get what you prayed for.

Sorry Ben, I only skimmed your post and didn't get to the part about the baby. Childbirth is a really scary thing, believe me. I hope everything turns out o.k.

Definately! Sometimes the answer is NO though. Just like parents. Sometimes we want things that aren't best for us or whomever we're praying for.

In the case of a baby dying, as a parent, I'd rather miscarry or lose an infant than a child that I've gotten to know. But that's me. I believe everything happens for a reason, even if we don't understand it at the time.

Ben, we will also lift up our prayers for your aunt & her baby's behave. We hope the healing is part of the plan!

Is the baby in a local hospital? A nephew, that's now 22, was born weighing 1 pound 8 oz. He was in SF children's hospital. They did an amazing job!
