PC since my first click. OK, it was an XT (8086 processor) and it did not have a mouse (or a hard drive), but ever since I've been using PC.

Mac's are not so common in my country. They are mostly used for graphic design.

To All:

Had Steve Jobs and (colleague) Steve Wozniak not been so FOOLISH (with proprietary mandates), this would today be a MacIntosh World. Marketing to academe made great sense...as those prefer to use what they learned in school, in the outside world. But with Apple holding only about 5-6 percent market share, this leaves them with a severe, competitive disadvantage, inherently raising the price of their products...and compels most software development companies to seek business elsewhere.

(Windows '95 GUI? Actually Mac '88 interface!!! )

Conversely, IBM, Intel, and Mr. (Bill) Gates were much WISER...going with an OSI (Open Systems Interface) approach. A DOS-hacker since 1985, it should come as NO surprise to you all as to WHY I always prefer a PC! Endless flexibility and low cost always RULE!!!

It's all about SMART Marketing, Marketing...and MARKETING!!!

Now that my iPhone has an acceptable OS version, I'm pretty happy with this Apple product. As well, I love how solid the Apple Laptops feel!

That being said, I refuse to pay two to three times as much for a computer that for me will do less b/c of the lack of available software.

I'll stick with my PCs, but for now, my phone will continue to be Apple.

Stevencrosbie:

Exactly my point. I have a fairly new (one-year old) PC. Picked out all the parts and screwed it together myself. Approximate investment: $700. Had I bought an equivalent turnkey PC system off the shelf from a "big box" retailer? Easily $2,200. In a Mac version? Probably $3,000, if not more, by the time I purchased the software.

The rugged Intel Pentium and Windows XP (with all SPs + updates) does a fantastic job for me!

Mac. Grew up using a PC but the reliability and quality is way above PC's IMO. Sure Macs does have a higher price tag but all the time I'm saving from dealing with crashes and issues are well worth the higher price.

Do you like being abused by high prices and not much to show for it being a MAC person? I don't like MACs proprietary hardware which jacks up the price nor do I like the fact that they always have borrowed CPUs from others and somehow think using Intel chips is supposed to be some monumental breakthrough.

Hell, my first music player was a Rio 16 mb and not even an Ipod. Apple to me is the computer maker that I skipped, from the early MACs to modern MACs. Who needed an Apple IIe when a Commdore 64 cold do more and had even more games!!

I went straight from Commodore 64 directly to PC clones and never threw my money at proprietary computer manufacturers like Apples! The fun is in mixing and matching hardware as well as software not to be pigeon-holed into a certain suite of apps like MACs are notorious for nor do I like the aforementioned pricey apple hardware which only Wozniak and Jobs are benefiting from made infamous by the recent Best Buy commercials where noone could get the PC they wanted from Apple MAC given 1500 dollars!. omg!! screw macs!!

the only thing good about MACs was it was somehow conceived out of a garage in California. after that, i'm done with them.

Mac at work, PC at home. I don't care what either I have as long it runs Adobe products and is over 3+ GHz, and has more than 8GB of RAM. lol

I just bought a laptop - Windows based. It was a matter of a 17" Windows laptop was $500, the 17" Mac would have been $5,000.

I like Macs better, but not 10 times better.
