Talking Dyno results: RV6 PCD's vs. RV6 HFPC.

Here you go guys: what you've all been waiting for. Dyno test results for RV6 pre-cat deletes as well as RV6 high-flow pre-cats on a baseline car that already has intake and exhaust.

This is important to know because sometimes THERE ARE DIMINISHING RETURNS WHEN IT COMES TO EXHAUST MODIFICATIONS; the results will illustrate this. I'm going to just come right out and tell you guys (please don't kill me Richie) that if you already have full intake and exhaust the HFPC's are clearly the no-brainer choice.

Baseline: Takeda Intake, Takeda Mid-Pipe, Borla Axle-Back. Factory j-pipe/3rd cat.
Results: 231whp, 204wtq

HFPC's: Peak: 243whp, 214wtq. Average: 189whp, 207wtq.

PCD's: Peak: 245whp, 211wtq. Average: 188whp, 205wtq.

If you look at the test report scan below you'll notice that the horsepower curve that is higher throughout most of the rev range is actually the one representing the HFPC's. It doesn't dip below the PCD's line until around 5500 RPM. The torque curve for the HFPC's is clearly above the curve for the PCD's throughout the entire rev range.

Baseline Dyno:

PCD Dyno:

HFPC Dyno:

I'll apologize here because no, we didn't make videos of the car being driven. I was pressed for time and we were working on this for over five hours. I ended up driving away with a set of HFPC's so I may add videos of that in the future. Hope you guys find this information useful!

thanks for the work you put in to getting some numbers! Now, I am waiting for AT numbers. Great stuff! I am leaning towards the HFPCs now. (For now) haha

Your results are in line with what a Honda tuning magazine found: there's no real benefit to switching to catless vs. high flow cats unless you're F/I.

"but drowned, aren't you catless?"

Yeah and it's on my todo list to have a HFC put on at least until I go turbo.

I finally raced a 3.8L genesis the other day, on the rolling I just pulled only a car length ahead out of a good quarter mile stretch. Then we raced at the light and he beat me by about the same cause I can't put the power down. He said he was surprised he expected to blow by me he said lol good ol sleeper honda!

Went to the store with my girlfriend tonight so I had her record a short vid on my phone so you guys could hear a bit of the exhaust from an in car perspective. I'll try to get something better up at some point.

Sounds like a cross between a Honda V6 and the flat 6 in a 911, with a dash of Nissan VQ. Amazing.

Sounds good!

More confusion as to which way I want to go for exhaust modifications. The dyno's from Richie showed us a gains of 37WHP/23WTQ on PCDs and 26WHP/23WTQ on the HFPCs vs stock. Meanwhile, you were seeing a much higher baseline with your existing Takeda Intake, Takeda Mid-Pipe, and Borla Axle-Back.
Pieces of the puzzle: Richie actually saw a small loss on bone stock vs Takeda SRI. That leaves your Takeda Mid-Pipe and Borla Axle-Back to be responsible for roughly the same gains that we'd see from the cat deletes.

That's either impressive for the Mid-Pipe/Axle-Back, or it might mean the baseline on Richie's Dyno is a little lower than it should be for whatever reason.

Best description I've heard because the resonance I get around around 3k rpm is unlike anything I've experienced. I need to get better videos up.

Simple. If you plan on replacing the entire exhaust get HFPC. If you want power and to save money get PCD and leave the factory 3rd cat and mid pipe.

Nice gains! Thanks for the numbers. I’d like to ask a really dumb question. What’s the difference between a Mustang Dyno and a non-Mustang dyno? It seems that Mustang Dynos consistently show less wheel horsepower.

For example here is another Mustang Dyno test for a 6-6 Accord (SRI, RV6 PCD, and exhaust) that measured 237 whp.

But here is a non-Mustang Dyno test on a totally stock 6-6 that shows 256 whp.

What makes one dyno so different from another? Thanks.

Either way you go, you will not be disappointing! Richie built 2 outstanding options for our V6 accords and price to power is great in both options! Now head over to and orders yours if you haven't already! The sooner you do, the sooner we can also get the J-PIPE, intake, and exhaust mods from him as well!
