auto to manual swap: How hard? Has anyone done it?

I have a 2003 honda accord with 2 doors to many lol. And it's an automatic. How hard would it be to swap to a 5 speed? Has anyone done it before. Thanks

Also I'm new to the forum

Is it hard? Depends on how technically and mechanically inclined you are. It's not as simple as doing an oil change or doing your brakes. If you're asking, I presume you have zero experience working on transmissions.

Has anyone done it? Yes. Several.

There have been quite a few people who've asked the same questions you're asking.

- need help! Auto to manual?
- Accord 5AT->TSX 6MT
- 7th Gen i4 Sedan Manual Swap?
- is a Auto to manual transmission conversion possible?
- Manual Swap
- Information needed for Auto to Manual swap
- Auto to Manual Tranny Swap
- Automatic to manual conversion

In the end, most don't do it because:

1) they don't have the know-how
2) they don't have the money for the necessary parts (parts alone will run a couple thousand)
3) if they have the money for the parts, they don't have the money to pay a shop to do it (~ $2,000)
4) they realize it's cheaper to just sell their automatic and buy a manual

By the way, since you're new here... a little pointer. We have a search tool under the "Tools" tab up top... could help in your research.

If you are asking how hard it is, you can't do it.

I mean I'm only 18. I'm not super mechanically inclined, but I know my way around a car. I know it won't be easy but I was really just wondering if it was plausible. Thanks for all the info tho!

Possible yes, plausible no. If you are really passionate and want the challenge, I say go for it. Just bring pockets stuffed with cash and all the patience you can muster.

Betty White (Bobbo's beautiful lady of a 7.5 gen) has HFP Silverstar wheels (tied for the TL-S as my favorite wheels on these cars) that he dipped gold, "Heritage Gold" or something like that.

Easy. First you go on KBB.com and assess what your car is worth and what you want to sell it for. Next you search autotrader for cars that fall in your budget range that come as a stick shift. Finally you sell your car and buy the new one.

Auto to 5-speed manual swap. Done.

There's no logical reason to do an auto to manual swap when it is far easier and cheaper to just sell your car and buy a 5MT or 6MT Accord. Accords are such common cars that even the manual versions are pretty easy to find, regardless of where you live.

If you were talking about an auto → manual conversion in a rare car like a Gen IV Supra, I could certainly understand the logic behind that. But on a car as common as an Accord? No way.
