Civic SI rims on Accord?

I'm looking at a set of 2006 Civic rims, 215/45/17-45 offset to replace my Accord's wheels.

The current size is 205/65/15- (55 offset I believe)

I went to one site and they said the tires were too small, i.e. greater than 3% difference.

What do you guys think?

Wheels will work fine - tires are a bit too small (load rating wise, diameter wise). You'll end up putting more mileage on the odometer if you try to use these.... I thought of this option last year when looking for wheel/tire combos for my Accord, but passed due to the smaller tire size...

It probably depends on the trim lvl of the accord. With the 05 LX I4. The front brake caliper will be in the way. The wheels can be mounted on the car, but the front will not turn due to the calipers being in the way. I tired it meaning I put the rims on to my car.

It was on an EX V6...that means that the front brakes should be the same size if not bigger. They require a 5mm spacer but they fit

The guy who's selling them said he is using a 3mm spacer with a Civic EX.

Can someone explain what the difference is that necessitates the spacer?

If a spacer is required, then it means the offset is set too far inward and the inside of the wheel hits the caliper (from the side, not the top) - meaning you have to push the wheel out from the mounting hub for clearance. Didn't realize that was an issue, but if others have seen it, I guess the offset is a problem. That and the smaller tiire size means I personally would pass on it...

May I ask why you want to put the SI rims? I might be wrong but the OEM one are kinda heavy compare to aftermarket.

I've got 15" Honda aluminum rims on my car with the Honda steelies for winter.

My wife's Acura CSX has 16" aluminum and we have another set of 15" blizzaks.

The idea was to put the Civic SI rims on my car then put the blizzaks on my aluminum 15" for my wife's car.

My car would then have 17" Civic SI rims for summer, 15" steelies for winter.
...and my wife's car would have 16" stock rims for summer and my 15" aluminum's for winter.

Sounds like a lot of screwing around doesn't it.

Here is the wife's car.

Gotta! It makes sense then.. I used to do that too The rim I am using right now was on my previous 3 cars So I totally understand.

But I think you need to get some new tires when you swap the rim between Accord and Civic. The rims should fit but not the tires..

Have fun!!

Got that covered too. Tires from my wife's previous car would go on the new wheels off my car.
