Aftermarket Wheels for Sport?

The time is coming up to replace my tires. I am having difficulty stomaching the consistent tire quotes of $750 - $1000 (Michelin & Bridgestone from Costco, Tire Barn, PeoBoys, etc...) that the car is going to ask for every few years.

I am trying to stay mature/financially intelligent by keeping the Sport and not letting temptation put me on a lot looking at V6 MT's or Lexus IS's. Thus, I am looking at swapping the rims and selling the 18" factory ones.

Is there an aftermarket wheel that is universally accepted as a good option for our car? I know cars, but I tend to stay stock, so my aftermarket wheel knowledge is very slim.

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for the rim or the actual tires? If you're looking for rims I'd start with what kind of rim fits your style and liking best, then search around for ones that will fit the car. If you aren't sure what would fit you can look at websites like CarID.com where you enter the make model and year and it tells you what rims will fit. As for the tires I am not too knowledgable on the subject so couldn't advise you to go one way or another.

Can you fit 245/45 18 tires? There are a lot more options for that size and they are a lot cheaper

You can get used works for a decent price...

You can go Vossen or you can go niche which I heard are a replica of Vossen.

Several members, including me, like Continental ProContact tires. Decently priced, quiet, sticky, good on wet pavement.

As for tires I like the value of Hankook brand ones. I'm getting a set of Optimo all seasons for $320 for the "new" Accord wheels I bought last week.

On the stock Primacy I got 55,000 miles normal dealer rotations all highway driving.
I switched to an 18"x8.5" rim running 245-45-18 on Continentals. They are a good tire.
the after market rim was 4lbs lighter than the OEM sport and a .50" wider. its my daily driver and didn't want to get too crazy with the different styles. It's really up to you and the end goal.

I'm waiting on Enkei aftermarket rims, you also want to make reasonably sure that the rim will be available a few years down the line as I keep my cars.

Sticker shock wore off, and I think I am going to replace the tires and keep the factory wheels. I've found good prices on the Continental and Hankook that were mentioned, as well as a BF Goodrich. Their pricing is more inline to my comforts.

Thanks for all the feedback! Always quality.

Nice, I thought the 245 45 would look a bit bulky but they look good.

thanks, stock 235s on 8.5" rim would give it a stretched look. America Tire told me it's almost an inch taller and a half inch wider; this would fill in the fender gap if i wasnt planning to lower it. I love how these continentals ride, no squeal compared to the primacy (if pushed)
