Mountain bikes, 4cycle outboards, jet engines...OH MY!!!!

I saw this in an annual report, I believe they're licensing G.E. with this engine technology also, if I remember correctly.

Yup saw this when it first came out. I don't think it's the best idea though unless they plan on sticking one of these things on the next NSX

Knowing how efficiently Honda can use space, it would be great if they made airliners at some point!! Saying this after sitting with our kness in our chins for hours flying to & from FL!!

I hope BB was in first class for his extra LONG trip!!

AOPA Pilot has a detailed look at the design and development of the Hondajet this month; I was excited to see it was their cover story!

Wouldn't mind seeing them put out a few big rigs. Big rigs already go close to a million miles as is, could imagine a Honda doing 5 million

Here's a pic and article

Honda hits the highs
What's the fastest Honda you can buy? An NSX maybe? Perhaps a Fireblade motorcycle? An F1 machine, if you twisted their arms?

Not even close. The fastest Honda is just about to go on sale and it's capable of 412 knots, or 474.12mph.

Aimed at the fast expanding light-jet market, the HondaJet goes on sale in the US later this year.

It is the result of more than 20 years of research, and the plane includes the patented over-the-wing engine mounting. (Of course they had to do something unusual )

Other technical innovations to appear on the jet are an all-composite fuselage construction, and low-drag nosecone and wing design. (Well they did manage a 0.28 Drag coeff on the accord )

For the pilot, an all-glass flight panel shows all of the necessary information on a digital display. (Honda doing instrumentaion are we surprised )

There's seating for two crew and five passengers, and the HondaJet has a range of 1,100 miles.

If this sounds like the ideal solution to your commuting problems, the expected price is somewhere in the region of $1.5 million...

Hondajet nears FAA certification

As the Hondajet nears FAA certification here's the story of it's development. It's a great story of Honda's inovation and engineering excellence.

2015 CR-V EX Urban Titanium Metallic
2007 Fit Sport Silver 65,000 miles and going strong.
Previous Honda: 2000 Accord Coupe, 1994 Accord Wagon Red, 1988 Prelude White 5 speed manual, 1981 Accord 4 Door Ivory 5 speed manual

Does it seem to you it has taken an inordinately long time? I first saw it at EAA AirVenture somewhere between 5-10 years ago!

Ha,ha, now that I read the interesting article, it still seems like a long time. I don't know much about the aircraft manufacturing business, just that it seems very complex and the up-front costs of an aircraft launch must be astounding. In fairness to Honda, I guess they did have to build the whole aircraft division too. I wonder if the guy who gave them the $50,000 deposit back in 2005 has been patient.

Thanks for posting.

2017 Toyota Highlander XLE. Yeah, so call me a traitor!!
2013 Accord Sedan EX-L Nav., Basque Red Pearl II; 100,000 miles
2004 Odyssey EX-L, Havasu Blue Metallic, 245,000 miles when my eldest son took it over
1998 Accord LX Sedan 5-speed, Heather Mist Metallic; went to live with my youngest son. Died Jan. 2015 with 246,000+, (right front axle broke).
