I just put a set of HIR's in my daughter's Accord and she says it's much better than the stock bulbs. We'll see how long they last.
Hirs put out more light output ! I think its like 70 percent birghter than stock 9006.

Not true for Silverstars.

What are the Whitest 9006 low beam bulbs?

Here's the comparison of these bulbs to standard and high-performance 9006 bulbs.

A "+50" would be a Philips Vision Plus or GE Night Hawk.

A "+80" would be a Philips Xtreme Power.
  • Low beam stock: 9006, 12.8V, 55W, 1000 lumens, 875 hours
  • Low beam compare: 9006 +50, 12.8V, 55W, 1090 lumens, 300 hours
  • Low beam compare: 9006 +80, 12.8V, 55W, 1120 lumens, 275 hours
  • Low beam 9012: HIR2, 12.8V, 55W, 1875 lumens, 875 hours
  • Sylvania 9006 Silverstar (low beam): 910 lumens, 150 hour rated life
  • Sylvania 9006 Silverstar Ultras (low beam): 1000 lumens, 30% more than Silverstars, so about 195 hour rated life
  • Sylvania 9006 Xtravision (low beam): 1060 lumens, 300 hour rated life

You have to remember that when Sylvania's making their claim that Silverstar's or Silverstar Ultra's are brighter than stock 9006, this comparison is being made between new Silverstar's and used stock 9006 bulbs. It says so right on the packaging. The blue tint on the Silverstar's also give the impression/trick the eyes into thinking they are brighter when in fact they are not.

Note where it says "Claims based on measured comparisons between Silverstar product family at 100% light output and standard halogen bulbs at 80% light output."
