Question Ideal oil change interval

I went for an oil change earlier at the Honda dealership.
I normally get an oil change every 5000 miles.

My mileage was 84947 - my next oil change on the sticker reminder they put is 91k

Is this correct?

What type of oil did they put in, regular or synthetic?

For regular, 5,000-6,000 is fine. My maintenance minder goes off between 5K and 6K. Synthetic can easily do 7,500 or more.

I go with about 7k or every 1 year. My car does not get enough mileage. I just switched to synthetic now so I'll be once a year. I've only had about 7 oil changes on my 2006 in total

Smile Oil Changes

I have a 2005 Accord 6 cylinder with 128,000 miles, I am the original owner. I use synthetic oil, and change the oil between 4500 and 5500 miles. I know it is often, but it only means a little extra over the years

I don't have a user manual but I've always heard that the manual says every 10K and there was no mention of whether that would be on synthetic or conventional???

Honda does not sell a synthetic, so why would you even consider it?

Sufficient quantity of oil, correct oil-weight for the application, and "cleanliness" of oil are the most important factors - first & foremost! Use the maintenance-minder (MM) & mileage-ranges (3k miles, 5k miles, 7.5k miles, etc) as guides, but ultimately "look" at the oil & decide accordingly if it needs changed based on your driving-routine (short trips vs. long trips, lotsa stop-&-go vs. minimal accel/deccel), your environment (cold/hot, dusty & dirty), your vehicle's load (lotsa passengers/cargo, ascent/descent elevations, etc), and familiarize yourself w/ your air-filter every 5k or 7.5k miles (rather indicative how your oil is gonna "look").

As aforementioned, synthetic oils can help reduce wear, help w/ fuel-economy, and extend your oil-change interval (when paired w/ a high quality oil-filter). But using a quality conventional oil that's regularly changed (and clean), correct weight & quantity, will do just fine!

A 5-quart jug of quality conventional oil is $15-$20 & requiring to be changed (generally speaking) at 3,750 - 5,000 miles, and a 5-quart jug of synthetic oil is $20-$25 & requiring to be changed (generally speaking) at 7,500 - 10,000 miles. It almost makes sense to do the latter, if driving conditions & factors aren't overly-demanding (in which case, shorter oil-change intervals matters more than conventional or synthetic).
