Why Did Honda Cease Production of the Accord V6 6MT sedan?

I waited years for Honda to finally release the V6 Accord sedan with a manual transmission, and rejoiced in '06 when they finally arrived. Then, after just 2 yrs, they stopped producing them. Terrible shame, IMHO!
It seems the '06-'07 Accord V6 6MT sedans are popular and hard to find vehicles, so there definitely seems to be a demand for them. Is it not enough demand to warrant further production? I dunno.

Does anyone know the inside story? Is there a chance that we might seem them back on the market again? I hope so, but somehow I doubt it..

I've been to different Honda Dealers for service and while killing time some of the sales people say it takes forever to sell one so they wont carry a 6-6 sedan.

And yeah, at my job NO one buys a MT anymore unless its a sports car or one of the 9,999 dollar new cars that are stripped.

Hell no we don't... and it ****s, but that's what the market says.

It's just annoying that they produce an MT 4cyl and not an MT V6 sedan.

Since they started making the V6-6speed Sedan in 06 and 07 (last two years of the gen), I figured they might do it again for 2011 and 12, but I guess they didn't sell enough of them. My truck is a manual, and I could do without it. Automatics are too easy, and manuals don't really have the cost or fuel economy benefit they used to have.

92 EX Sedan auto (RBM) - sold after 12 years (140k miles)
03 EX V6 Sedan auto (NBP, then Ford Blue) - traded in after 13 years (135k miles)

The sales on the 6MT sedan wasn't great. People are lazy nowadays and the market for manual trans cars are low. I went to the dealership and they literally gave me a deal on my 6MT. KBB had the price for ~$15k and I got it for ~$12k OTD.

I'm just glad Honda still offers the Accord in the 6MT, much less still making MT's.

about 87,000. They had it listed for $14,375 but when I went on the lot and asked how much they wanted, they told me $12, 158 OTD. They lowered it again, but by $100 when I bought it. I just got really lucky because the next 6MT was 300 miles away.

Yes, I was surprised they didn't try to ask for more because of the navi. I really didn't think I would get a good deal because I was trading in my 07 (in my avatar) which was a k24 5AT and I figured they would try to get as much off of me because I was trading for a v6.

No one bought them. The 8th Gen has even less models with manual transmission. The target demographic of the Accord Sedan is a family, and they don't want to drive a manual transmission. They are hard to find because so few were made. That doesn't mean there is a demand for them.

I had a friend that owned a Honda store at the time, and they either had Honda try to force some on them or they were special order only. No one bought them. I think he sold 3 over 2 years.

No one wants to shift any more (except me!)

I love to shift...and so do a lot of people. No one buys them because they are hard to sell. As soon as you buy a car with MT, you have lost over half the market when it comes to resale. If you poll the avg American household, you'll find a majority that could not pull a stickshift out of the driveway.

If the V6 MT sedan sold, you can darn well bet Honda would be producing them. It's not a car that was being bought by anybody... that's why they are rare. 4Cyl MT cars are generally bought because they are cheaper, but I bet those are gone in a matter of a few years.

I like manual transmission vehicles myself... but my wife insists on an AT for her car.
