I have never found verifiable evidence that this has happened to a Rota rim under normal conditions. Most rims that hit a curb at high speed would look like that photo. You see so many of broken Rota pics because they are inexpensive and ricers can afford them, so they can drift their FWD cars info curbs. Just my 2 cents.
