My 2006 Accord has 115,000 miles and I'm formulating my plan of action moving forward with regard to changing the timing belt and related parts. I have an ongoing relationship with a trusted local import repair shop that performs the service work on my Honda with the OEM Honda parts I supply them.
My objective is to drive this car to at least 200k.
I've been shopping around at HondaAutomotiveParts.com, Amazon, and eBay. I've found that Amazon and eBay appear to have timing belts kits with OEM Honda Parts at pricing for less than the Honda Online Dealer. So I'm considering this rout. With Amazon, there is the Amazon's 30-day return policy. The eBay listing has a 30-day return but may have a 20% restocking fee.
Also, I'm wondering on an engine of this type with this mileage, what parts actually need to be replaced during a typical timing belt replacement? Is it advised or is it overkill to replace items like the tensioner, idelers, cam seals, crank seals, etc.?
I'll go talk to my service shop before ordering the parts, but am interested to hear the experiences and recommendations of others here in the forum.
Here are the links to the part kits I'm looking into:
