Unhappy Poor mileage for 2006 Accord 4-Cyl

Put in about 1300 miles already in my 2006 4-cyl Accord with Auto. So far, I am only getting 27-28 miles per gallon. Highway-65% City - 35%.

I am driving most 65-70 on Hwy.

Can I expect better mileage later? If so, when?

Thanks

You have quite a way to go before break in is complete. It's way too early to judge mileage. Check back after 5000 miles or so.

That sounds right to me. I'm averaging 29-30 mpg on my 06 EX with manual tranny, and I do 80% highway, 20% city. I have a little over 2K miles on it. I expect the mileage to get better as more miles accrue.

Funny thing is that on my old car, a 99 Honda Civic Si (with mods), I got 29-30 mgp after it had over 60K on it and before that, it averaged a consistent 27 mpg.

My wife's Accord is getting pretty sucky MPG out of her 05 too. 26.5 is tops she (or I) ever got, 4 cylinder, close to 9K miles on the clock.

I dunno, my 02 Altima gets better, I'm kind of dissapointed.

Just broke 10,000 miles, 90% highway driving and getting 29-30mpg. Best tank so far- 32.9. Generally driving 70-75 mph. Mileage less than expected considering the 34 mpg on the window sticker. My 97 advertised 32 hwy and got 32 like clockwork for 300,000 miles. Overall, this is my one disappointment, otherwise its a great ride.

On my last tank of gas, which ended on Mon, I averaged 32.5 over 491 miles (but this was with topping off - I probably got 30.0+ MPG real). On this tank I redlined it about 8 times in different gears. I did do a few long cruises at ~60 MPH, but still, getting that kind of gas mileage on a tank that I redlined it multiple times is commendable.

It's either that crap Cali gas or the fact that your engine's not broken in yet, I think.

Now that I +2'd my tires/wheels, I am curious to see how bad my gas mileage will be affected. The last 100 miles on the tank above have been on the 225/45R17s.

Disappointment is my 05 Ody getting consistent 20 mpg (80% highway/20% city) when its rated at 28 mpg highway.

The higher mpg was a big sellin point in my wife picking the Ody over the Sienna too....

My 05 Accord LX 4cyl auto has been getting a consistent 28-29 mpg with mixed in-town and highway driving. If you drive mostly highway you'll get about 32 or so. Been pretty consistent from about 1000 miles onward.

That's about average.

Don't expect the EPA numbers or more unless you hypermile.
