So this has me baffled. Last few weeks when I floor my 2005 V6 accord to get on the highway the check engine light would flash for a short time. Car ran fine and noticed no issues. I had my friend hook up his computer to scan the obd2 and it showed no codes. We think either his code reader won't work for this car which seems odd because it showed all the other data of it or it's some software flaw with the check engine light? I had the battery replaced last month so maybe that caused a issue? Oh admins I accidentally reported my post by mistake as I'm on my phone lol

Flashing engine light is usually a misfire may take a while to set a code. Happened to me, turned out to be a bad injector. Check your plugs & coils first.

A flashing CEL (Check Engine Light) is something serious to be concerned about. A flashing CEL indicates that your vehicle's engine is misfiring, which could severely damage your catalytic converters. ... Engine misfire is a severe condition that requires immediate attention to avoid expensive repairs or even a car fire!

Like mentioned, check spark plugs if not already checked, and test ignition coils with a cheap spark tester.

I checked the spark plugs and they look good. I filled it up with premium gas since regular has ethanol and I've had that cause issues with a past car. Also put in bottle of injector cleaner and floored it, so far no flashing light. How would I check the coils if it's only misfiring wide open throttle ? If it was happening all the time testing would be so much easier

On my car it would misfire randomly, maybe twice a week but only while accelerating. Mechanic narrowed it down to cyl. #1. Coils & plugs were OK, had a decarbon of engine done, vtec pressure switch changed. Instead of paying for maybe a lenghty diag. the mechanic thought a crank sensor or failing injector but most likely injector. Had injector replaced last Thurs., car runs & accelerates much smoother.

Misfire. I recently had the same thing. I don't know what scanner he used, but there is a code stored. Every time the CEL flashes, a code is stored until it's cleared by a computer.

Same thing happened to me, 2005 V6. I floor it, CEL flashes. My spark plugs looked great, but they were 172k miles old. Put new ones and no more CELs when flooring.

the spark plugs look good but are older so maybe i will try the easiest solution and replace them all. If i only knew the cylinder that misfired it would be so much easier but working on cars is never simple lol. My last car was a 98 Civic and the owner spent over a grand on a intermittent hesitation problem. I got it cheap and it took me months to figure it was a defective o2 sensor that would cause the engine to run lean at random times causing hesitation but it wasn't bad enough to throw a code.

Make sure to get the NGK Iridium plugs. Don't cheap out. Changing them is a piece of cake.

You can get them Advance Auto, look bobistheoilguy (rebates, sale, promotion section) for a code. Order online with instore pick up, they come pre gapped. When you pull the plug you will know what cylinder.

My '07 had this exact same issue when it hit 120k. New spark plugs didn't fix it. New injectors didn't fix it. Valve adjustment fixed it, and I'm sitting at 133k with no problems, no CEL.

OP,

check your oil level. My car did this last week on highway, and found that I was 1-1.5qts down on oil.

stiller fan This is definitely a possibility. The accord of this generation with the V6 is notorious for rear main seal leaks past 130k, for me it's about half a quart between oil changes. renton83 definitely keep an eye on it.

Have not done any valve adjustment in 265k miles / 10.5 years.

Rear main seal isn't leaking either. Oil level does not drop in between change. I always use the same brand/weight of oil.

What are you doing I am not?
