Brake Caliper Paint Question -

Was at the local auto store today and saw they had the Dupli-color system in stock ($19.99) and was wondering if :

1. Is that a good price?
2. Noticed in the instructions that it says takes 24hrs to really cure and vehicle shouldn't be driven in that time,

First off who has painted there calipers and actually not driven afterwards for 24hrs??

Might do it tomorrow if it all pans out, gonna be another award winning spring day!

I think I paid $25 shipped for mine from Summitracing.com. I painted mine silver

As for the drying time it should only need an hour or as soon as they are dry to the touch just don't brake to hard for a day. I did 4 coats on mine and it turned out perfect

I am planning on doing the black, and am still curious whether or not its a high gloss or a matte finish, its the racing satin Black color ...

Just clear coat it for the gloss...korrupt3dazn just painted his black and it was all dry and good to go in an hour. he used an actual paint brush caliper kit and not spray paint for the black but used spray paint clear coat.

The duplicolor kit actually comes with the paint brush system so you don't have to remove the caliper, def wanna do clear coat give it a nice gloss !

I kinda went the less professional route, I used some 500F engine paint, closest I could get to my car was like Chevy Red or something. But it turned out totally fine.

I just masked the area off and painted, turned out great and lasted for over a year before I sold it, and it still looked perfectly fine, ha. Paint stuck really well to the rough calipers.

I think I waited about a few hours before driving, ha. Or all night. As you can see it was winter, so I didn't drive it, it sat in the garage, ha.

Reggly spray paint will blister and discolor badly. Need high temp paint. Interesting that 500 degree paint held up that well. Would've guessed you'd need higher temp paint than that. The harder you drive, the higher temp paint you'll need.

what about if you use regular paint and then put a high heat clear coat paint on it after?

I wouldn't do it on my car. It might work, but the reg paint doesn't need oxygen to degrade, though oxygen will certainly accelerate things.
