Bug Deflector

Hello Everyone,

Just wondering if any of you have installed a bug deflector on your 7th gens. If so which make and model did you get and do you have any pics. I've got a few chips in my hood and thought I could avoid more while covering the ones I already have with a smoked deflector.

Thanks

I just bought one made by BeneVento over the internet. Unfortunately I haven't installed it yet, since it was missing one of the hardware parts to secure it to the hood. Good news is that the vendor will be ordering the missing part from the manufacturer. When I get it installed, I'll post an update & also include some pics.

- Link to the ebay vendor I bought from (btw I bought the BeneVento roof deflector as well, & that works great!):

For the hood deflector, here's the link to the BeneVento site:

For the 03-05 Accord Sedan, the part# is BVBG-0156. The coupe I believe has a different part#. Btw, I believe these deflectors have also been sold under the FormFit name (name on the deflector says BeneVento, installation sheet says FormFit )

As for the ebay vendor, he doesn't have it on his list of for-sale items, but when I emailed him, he quoted me $36US for the roof deflector & $65US for the hood protector.

Hey, Thanks for the info. Any chance you could scan the install instructions and post them. I'm curious to know how difficult it is to remove the shield to clean underneath it.

Hi everyone! 1st-time Honda owner here!

I too am looking for some sort of hood shield as I commute on the highway. I like the Aussie one from CHH but I have no desire to put those "wing clips" on the hood of my car as I've seen what they can do (on a friend's Mazda).

That said, how safe are using the "bump-ons" on the hood of our cars? My Accord was built in April of '05 - will installing "bump-ons" harm the paint in any way? Not sure if it's urban legend or not, but I always heard to give your paint 90 days to cure before waxing and was wondering if the same applied here.

In addition, anyone find any other sources for the FormFit shield? I'd prefer one without the maker's logo on it (other than Honda). I've also found but am concerned that it merely screws into existing holes in the hood rather than using expansion plugs like the FormFit and the Aussie Honda one.

I was worried about those wing clips too.

Looks like both these use existing holes to mount...but will they rub on the paint???

Hope someone gets to try them and let us know....

Bought mine from . That's where I bought the car from, too. You may have to email them about it as I don't see it on their site---they have a ton of parts.

I think the guard was $100; however, it's good quality, no drilling and no trapping dirt/grime under it. It uses a fastener that goes over the leading edge of the hood. You put a piece of high adhesive tape on where this bracket hit the hood so that it doesn't scratch. Then, place the guard on the hood and screw into the bracket (not the hood!) to provide the tension to keep it in place. I don't have any scratches, it's sturdy and doesn't move in the wind when driving and it take less than 2min. to take off when I clean the car. Well worth the money.

I saw this deflector at the dealership today. On the underside of the hood where the brackets are installed, they had to cut through the rubber protecter that shields the nose of the hood, so that the brackets get a better grip. Did you have to do this on your's too? Btw, is your Accord grey or green ?

I will try to post some pics later.

No, I didn't have to do that to mine. I just slipped it under that rubber piece. Sounds like the monkeys that put that one on didn't know what they were doing.

My wife's car is green; though, not like the green you normally think of. We wanted the gray, but it seemed like EVERYONE had that color.

Thanks!

The update I got from the vendor is that the hardware is on its way from the manufacturer. Mail from the US could take 6-8 days, so I'm still waiting.
