Upgrade Stock Speakers (2013 LX-S Coupe)

I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to all of this stereo/sound system stuff so I could use advice from A-Z. I need some advice on upgrading my stock speakers. I have a 2013 Accord Coupe LX-S.
What I want is a louder, cleaner, crispier sound, perhaps even an amp with a subwoofer for when i'm driving on the freeway with the windows down. I read in the forums and by the looks of the reviews, the Polk DB651 seem really good. Would these fit in for my front and rear? I read somewhere in here that for my vehicle, the size is 6.5" for front and back, but just want to make sure? And does anyone know the difference between the Polk DB651 vs Polk DB651s (slim)? I do not want to change out the head unit, but I would like an amp, if possible, for a subwoofer. Any recommendations? And would it be cheaper to buy eberything myself and take it to a shop to install, or let them do everything? Let me know if I am getting ahead of myself. Any help would be awesome!

there is a difference and it matters as to which you pick so the tweeter doesn't protrude into the door panel grill. Crutchfield knows exactly which will fit and they'll provide the mounting adapters and wire adapters.

you won't notice much of an improvement with a straight swap. many have tried it and few have been satisfied. the weakness is the factory amplifier, not the speakers.

this is the basic upgrade:

Don't tell me that! I just bought some new coaxils to replace the stock speakers. I am going to try them just off the HU to start with.. It HAS to be an improvement!

Also, I was looking at your build log... Where did you get the foam that you put on your rear deck lid? I am thinking about just covering mine with speaker box carpet. Do you think that would work? Sorry for the hijack....

Any update on whether the straight swap with coaxials sounds makes a difference? I am considering the same thing.

I changed out my stock speakers to kicker 6.5" coaxial... It is an improvement over stock. I did the front and the rears.. It still lacked that punch in the chest bass that I like, so I put a ported 8" sub in the trunk and about 300 watts rms.

In time, I may do away with the rear speakers and add just a nice component set up front and run them off an amp... But they don't sound bad just running off the stock headunit.

Do you like the Kicker's? I've read some good things about them.
