Got a Ticket.. Is there any way that it can be waived?

Hi all,

I know this is out of topic but I really need your help.

I got a ticket because I passed a toll road without paying it. I did not know that I have to pay for a toll road because there were no signs whatsoever to pay for a toll road.

My question is that is there any way that the ticket fine be waived? They want me to pay $56 for it.

Thank you very much.

1. Where did this happen?
2. How did you manage to drive through a toll booth (be it occupied by a human or electronic) ?

It was probably one of those nonstop ones that just read a tag in your car as you drive through. It's called FasTrak in the California Bay Area.

OP: I doubt it. Just pay the fine.

My brother drove thru an unmanned toll booth very late night willing to pay the fine + fees if he got caught. He never received anything.

You can probably "contest" the ticket and get it reduced. Take some photos of that toll booth area to show them the lack of clear signs (if you can prove it).

Ahh, the FastTrak! I know those, I got a ticket like that too! I called and explained my situation, and they said "Pay the fine, we have you on video" and I said " I know, i seee the screen shot in the letter"...so what i did next was get an EzPass (NJ/NY/PA)

1. If you've time/inclination ($56 is your mark; how much time and effort is your call):

A. Contest

B. Take photos

Thank you for all your opinions. I appreciate it. It was a Fastrak. I know it's really unfair it's like they are trying to trap you or something. Anyways, they want to pay $56 and I called them and ask for a waive. As expected, they don't waive tickets. but they reduced it to $26!! I'm so thankful!

Nothing personal but YOU are part of what's wrong with this country. No one wants to own up to their obligations. Has it even occured to you to simply pay the fine associated with the offense committed and move on? Or would that put a crimp in the amount you could spend on mods for your whip?

How are you gonna say "Nothing personal" and the capitalize YOU? Doesn't that make it 100% personal??

All I'm saying is sometimes even "mistakes" come with consequences that have to been dealt with. Using your logic, the OP could ACCIDENTALLY bash into your car but you'd be fine with paying for the repairs it because it was just a wittle mistake.

I'm sorry but if I'm on a toll road, I damn well know there's going to be some kind of cost involved. Pay them now or pay them later. But no, the OP feels that Fasttrack is "unfair" and that he was "trapped". At what point does the OP just own up and pay up?

You're right...it IS personal but it's not a personal attack. I'm just calling out the OPs unwillingness to meet his lawful obligations. Thanks.

Why did you expect them to "waive" your rightful fine?

Some of these Toll's are not fair, I passed a toll twice in one year, no bill for 1.5 years then get a bill for 400.00 for non payment fines, the original toll was 7.00 the rest was fines i called and said BS and sent them 7.00 didn't nothing back. we also have a freeway that is still a toll road and has been paid for the last 10 years,
