Looking for a 90's to early 2000's Japanese Project Car

I like my new Accord a lot, but it doesn't really satisfy my interest in building a custom Japanese project car. I'm looking for something from the 90's to the early 2000's that I can modify into an excellent-handling car with track capabilities, and significant horsepower, in the mid-400's or 500hp range. If I have to replace the engine, that's fine.
What I don't want is to find a car that's half finished, or has seen too many hands - something that has one, two, or possibly three owners, but has been well-cared for. Perhaps a model that's not such an obvious sports car choice, as a lot of the obvious choices have been taken, bastardized, mistreated, and left for dead.
Not having a lot of luck finding anything on our Canadian Auto Trader, so I thought I'd put it out to the group. An early 90's Accord might fit the bill. Not married to Honda but I prefer them.
Thanks,
J

Go on like, any Facebook group aimed at selling cars in your general area. Or look up Facebook pages or websites for importers, then you could have a real Japanese car. Since you're in Canada you have way more potential for that than we do here in the US.

I would look for the following models

Accord 4th gen 1990- 1993, I would try to find a wagon in EX trim

Accord 5th gen 1994 -1997, I would look for an early V6, First years 1995 - 1997 it was a 2.7l (C27A) SOHC. This car got 5 lug wheels bigger front brakes and longer front fenders and hood than 4 cylinder.

CRX 2nd gen 1988 -1991, look for an SI maybe a Tahitian Green Perl.

CRX Del Sol try to find a 1996 with the B16A2 engine.

Prelude 3rd gen 1987 - 1991 with 4w steer and the SI engine. I am not a fan of the 4th gen 1992 - 1996. The 5th gen cars 1997 - 2001 all the North American cars are 2w steering, European and Japanese had 4ws.

S2000 first gen 2000 - 2003, get a Spa Yellow 2001 model and an aluminum hard top. This vehicle was assembled in Japan.

The best place to find cars like these is Craigslist and the forums dedicated to each model.

If you are feeling adventurous, FD RX-7 can be a candidate as well.

If you want that kinda horsepower, looks like you are looking at a LS Swap or a very aggressive turbo tune. And I would get something RWD.

How about a Lexus SC 300? 2JZ's sound like sex.

I found a 1999 Honda Prelude with an H22A4 engine. Is that anything interesting?

I've also found a 1991 Honda Prelude SR, but I haven't heard back about the engine type. Anything interesting here?

I got out of cars for several years, and picked up a 1st Gen Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX this summer for $2,000. It's a cool car and can get LOADS of power out of them

So, lots of moaning, groaning, heavy breathing.
Very strange for a car.

This reminds me...

A good while ago, there was a popular "prank" of sorts that would have a video with unsuspecting title. You click on it. It starts off normal, but halfway through, the audio will change to a girl moaning really loudly... While the video continues normally. Good luck explaining to your grandparents if you watch one of those videos at their place.

One of those videos happen to be "Best car exhaust sound ever". Being a car nerd, I clicked on it. It's pretty much a still shot of the rear end of a car. Suddenly, the moaning started. I turned the video off ASAP. Thank goodness I was not in a public area.

Would be nice, but all the ones I see these days are pretty sacked out. Looking for something in good shape. There's a few Infiniti G35X's around, but I'm leery of Infiniti/Nissan in general.

depending on your budget you could always import one.

also I just realized you're in Canada, which means that the correct answer is a JZX100.
