Scary Monster

OK, I'm not scared, I'm over excited.
Laying out a big chunk of cash does that.
Meet my new Italian supermodel.
2014 Monster 1200 with under 2600 miles.
I love the guys that buy new, barely ride, then choke down a big depreciation hit.

It's not a Honda, not even a car. It's a Monster and it's mine!

Beautiful! Congrats!

I spent a day with the 696 and came away a happy man.

I still take MSF refresher courses every few years.

Congrats!

That is a gorgeous bike. Very Tron-ish looking to me. I just peeked at the specs. 135 hp with a 460lb weight? I bet that bike's a screamer.

I hope you enjoy the maximum amount of safe miles with the minimum amount of pucker moments.

Where are you ever going to find a freeway that's clear enough to exercise your beautiful red monster in the Reseda/LA area??

But they'll certainly see (and probably hear) you coming when you're lane splitting!

Enjoy and ride safely...

Congrats! Very nice. Always thought Ducatis are unique. I still miss my Ninja. Wife said if I want a Moto again, it'll have to be a dirt bike.

There some nice mountain roads 20 minutes form my house. Much better than any freeway.

As for the Guzzi, I wasn't really looking at it, but it had a license plate that said antique. Shaft drive, cool looking wire spoke wheels, and was really clean. Moto Guzzi, the only ones that mount their V twin engine the right way. According to them.

Looks like a V7 Sport to me, either bike is highly drool-worthy in my book! Hope you get out and enjoy it far more frequently than the previous owner, hot Italian super-models hate nothing more than to be left at home. :p

The shop had a 2002 Mike Hailwood replica, one of 2000 made, and only 600 miles on it the sales guy said.
Borders on criminal, imho. These things are made to ride like the wind! Not sit parked. I will be winding up a bunch more miles on it, in the next weeks and months. I am clearing the garage and bringing in new 2 wheel fun. Three older bikes got to be a bit much.

Sold my 98 VFR with > 82k miles, and the 07 Aprilia Tuono, but still have the 03 T with 36k miles. Will be for sale soon, and I'll miss her.

Looking for a small Duck along the lines of my Guardian Ape. If you have any ideas.

I wonder how many of those "boutique" bikes end up as status symbols, sitting around gathering dust. As you say, its a crying shame either way. You are going to have to change your username to something more appropriate, MonsterLee or some such, LOL

Yeah, a well used bike or car that eventually becomes a museum piece is one thing.
Or an old race car or bike that comes out to run once or twice a year or something.
But a new machine that is made to run. Use it how it is meant to be used! I don't care how fancy or expensive. If you are scared to use something so expensive, it's too expensive for you, don't buy it. My opinion.

I like that brake line hugger.

I just run a bicycle bell though.

Where can I get one of those?
It can replace the tiny bar end mirror I want to eliminate anyway.

I just got it from a bicycle shop. It just happened to be the right size, and my CBR 250R has long, straight bar end weights, so I got lucky. The new baby viff has wimpy little ball shaped weights, so i'm gonna have to find another way to get a bicycle bell on there.

I ring it with my pinky whenever i'm going by pedestrians, or people in cars with open windows. I have yet to witness a good reaction while riding, but people at car meets get a kick out of it.

Oh yeah, there is a guy that works at a nearby mcdonalds that rides a sport bike with a barbie riding (female dog).

Fooling around with the $60 Apeman camera / Go Pro knock off I got last year.
Here for your listening enjoyment, a song of Thunder from my 2003 Aprilia Tuono,
and her Titanium Leo Vince sound system. My Italian supermodel #1, God I love this thing. Turn it up!
