2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco Review - Better than Accord Sport?

Hi fellow DA members,

I just read the new review published from Car and Driver about the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco. The performance results are pretty good and may even be a hair to hair comparison with the Accord Sport. The downside to me is, the bland design and lack of manual transmission.

Would you guys still pick the Accord over the Sonata after reading the review?

Keep in mind, I am looking for a friendly discussion; not a piss match.

I like em! I want to drive one before I give my opinion but I like the engine size, output, DCT (which has been getting pretty good reviews unlike the Veloster's DCT). I personally like the styling of the new Sonata so that appeals to me as well. Yes, not having an MT kinda sucks but my next daily driver won't have one because my wife can't drive an MT, so something like this in this price range could provide the sportiness of a DCT with a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty.

As with most of the smaller turbocharged engines I just don't see the promised MPG gain. Yes the performance is there but the economy is not, especially considering purchase price. Although I like the looks of the Hyundai I would prefer the larger less complex Honda engine mated to the manual gearbox. There is simply less that can go wrong with the 2.4l engine.

Accord FTW!

Id say this shows that the K24 in the sport is a little under rated, or the Hyundai just sucks.

I vote both.

I believe the gubmint is going after Hyundai and Kia for lying about the mileage estimates on their vehicles. So there's that.

If I were looking for a disposable car that I had no intention on keeping past 4 years, I might consider one of these Korean brands IF the price was right. If I was looking for something to drive until the wheels fell off, I'd get a Honda because there is no ways the wheels are falling off these cars unless a tire monkey forgets to put the lugnuts back on after doing a rotation.

The new Sonata's are absolute garbage. I rented a brand new 2015 sonata for a week while on vacation, only had 700 miles on it. Everything just felt so cheap on it, and at one point some of the weather stripping fell off! My good friend has a 06 sonata, and he's had nothing but problems with it. Hyundai? No thanks, I'll never buy one!
